RAPID ACTION AID INITIATIVE (RAAI) is woman led organization and independent registered non-governmental, nonprofit, Non-religious and equal opportunity, civil society organization based in Maiduguri. RAAI is a registered organization with the Corporate Affairs commission here in Nigeria with a CAC/IT/NO 138018. The organization aimed to give her support across all sectors  towards the affected populations within the BAY states to provide services towards their holistic development all round through capacity building, advocacy, Sensitization, Rapid assessment with inclusion of emergency response interventions in the areas towards early recovery to foster human development through SGBV programming, Sexual Reproductive health, Nutrition, WASH, General Food Distribution, CCCM, NFI, Shelter, HIV/AIDS Prevention & management, General health & hygiene, Education, women empowerment, livelihood, governance, free legal aid & human rights, registration and tracking of  new arrivals who are displaced due to violence, conflict or man-made disasters such as Mainstreaming Peace Building in all round programming with many among others.

RAAI has centrally focused on SGBV/GBV response and mitigation, Sexual Reproductive health (SRH), Education, General protection, WASH, food security and Livelihood, early recover. Rapid protection assessments, CCCM &NFI and community resilience Strengthening of AAP in reintegration farming for livelihood strengthening and mainstreaming peace build in other programing. RAAI is committed towards responding to IDPs, Returnees and IDP returnees. With it vision and mission, RAAI aims towards responding to needs and the typological concerns of individuals affected across the BAY state and not limited to cut across the entire country where response need arises. Furthermore, aiming towards the future RAAI shall integrate more into refugee response to protection, Asylum seekers and stateless persons in Post conflict and conflict eras such as strengthening the resilience of AAP in the Early Recovery Sectorial Approach to respond towards the Need of AAP in the Society. RAAI in its approach of implementation commits towards accessing Hard to reach Communities especially in Borno and to contribute towards the livelihood of AAP.

OUR MISSION

To contribute consummately towards sustainable human and environmental development through service delivery all round 360 through working with poor, PLWD and marginalized population to eradicate poverty by overcoming the injustices and inequality that cause it and promote efficient service delivery as well as result oriented socio-economic empowerment, institutional, legislative support to enable affected communities grow and develop their full potential in their society (AAP) across Nigeria, Africa and world at large.

With funding from NHF CBPF through its eligible partners within the BAY state, RAAI is working with partners for sub granting as SUBips in the approved projects to lead partners within the BAY state. The project is projected from 10-12 months project within Borno Adamawa and Yobe.

We are currently looking for the right candidate to fill the position below:

Job Title: GBV CB-PSS Workers

Locations: Jakusco and Gashua
Starting Date: ASAP
Contract Duration: 3 months with possibility of extension

Reporting To: PSS facilitator – GBV officer

Employment Type: contract

Slots: 20 for each location respectively

    Job Descriptions

  • Identify safe spaces to provide community based PSS (CB PSS) that adhere to the quality checklists for center-based and outreach activities shared at the inter-agency level
  • Identify vulnerable children and caregivers in need of PSS sessions in line with inter-agency selection criteria
  • Deliver PSS sessions to children and caregivers.
  • Deliver Parenting curriculum to caregivers of children attending focused PSS
  • Ensure PSS sessions is delivered in line with global minimum standards and national inter-agency SOPs/standards
  • Ensure to identify and refer children and caregivers in need of case management to CP case management on a monthly basis
  • Ensure the proper documentation of data collected (hard and soft copies) during CB PSS (attendance sheets, permission slips, parental consent, referrals etc.)
  • .Ensure that ALL children and caregivers accessing PSS sessions and identified as being at high risk are referred to focused PSS and case management
  • Provide technical capacity building on PSS, CP and GBV protection concepts, safe identification and referral and confidentiality and informed consent
  • Follow-up on the capacity building of PSS facilitation skills, adult, child learning, development basic principles, and developing new sessions throughout t using the specific methodology and incorporating key CP and GBV messages as necessary
  • Review the coaching session/plan together with the Officer and agree on areas in need of strengthening on a weekly basis.
  • Maintain positive relations with local implementing actors, local authorities and other international and local stakeholders;
  • Perform any other duties relating to the nature of the job as directed by the Officer, GBV coordinator and Project Manager

Key Areas of Accountability

Provide support, in the PSS Programming which includes:

  • Adhere to the PSS procedures aligned through the PSS facilitator
  • Ensure to adhere to GBV SOPs especially dealing with WGFSS.
  • Ensure to provide technical skills in providing PSS to survivors of GBV in the WGFSS though working in close collaboration and team spirit with the Community Auxiliary social workers and PSS community workers on PFA, PSS, MHPSS in GBV programming
  • Provide PSS service for GBV survivors, counseling, PFA, PSS, referral for MHPSS for survivors of GBV
  • Supervise activities in the safe space (Empowerment activities skills acquisition recreation)
  • Oversea the activities of the WGFSS
  • Disseminates information on the following key themes, GBV, Types of GBV, consequences of GBV, services available, Non stigmatization and guiding principle of GBV prevention, mitigation and response.
  • Confidentially refer survivors of GBV to eh safe space for case managements through working with the COMBAAT and PSS community base workers and in close collaboration with the GBV officer.
  • Support in the GBV implementation activities with the GBV officer
  • Promote and identify the community base existing mechanism while integrating the standardized approach of PSS in the community.
  • Ensure to use the standardized skills during the PSS and also step down strategic and diplomatic ways for community based PSS on best approach and accepted PSS specialized skills when dealing with survivors
  • Assisting survivors in acute distress and alleviating their stress
  • The use of structured and mutualized PSS technique
  • Ensure that survivors are always confortable during counseling sessions and enhance their participation during and personal development.
  • Ensure that all survivors are not exposed to further harm in the WGFSS or stress.

Proposed Outputs

  • Support Community based PSS and Auxiliary social workers in providing individual counseling sessions with survivors of GBV where required based on complex cases.  
  • Be available on call if any urgent matters arise that a staff would like to share regarding their casework or his/her personal well being
  • Support the GBV Officer during the development of monthly reports and GBV 5Ws monthly reporting for the project to the GBVSSS and report to the Project Manager.
  • Development of peer/reflective practices with teams
  • Support current PSS practices, reflecting on a cross-sectorial approach.   
  • Structured PSS activities for boys and girls, organized in age-appropriate groups with a clear methodology or curriculum to promote mental well-being. Such activities must align with RAAI and her donor`s commitments.

Qualifications and Experience
Essential:

  • Minimum of BSc in Psychology, sociology and anthropology, clinical psychology will be an added advantage or any relevant field with Minimum of 3 year of experiences and 3 years post NYSC.
  • Experienced in Psychological First Aid, MHPSS, and other psychosocial support (PSS) activities
  • Experience working with survivors in Protection programs, including those with PSS component
  • Fluent in English and Hausa is desirable
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and discretion with confidential information
  • Ability to work independently and proactively.

Desirable:

  • Experience in humanitarian emergencies and/or a refugee/displacement-setting
