Job Description

Background
Goggoji Zumunchi Development Initiative (GZDI) is a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) legally registered in Nigeria and has been in existence for twelve (12) years. The Mission of GZDI is to assist and enable women, children and youth especially those who are disadvantaged, vulnerable and marginalized in the Nigerian communities, overcome the issues of poverty, HIV/AIDS, Hunger, ill-health, and other challenges which they faced through enlightenment and empowerment activities. GZDI have partnered with like-minded National NGOs and INGOs to offer humanitarian support from the Food Security and Livelihood sector (Food items (FI) and Non-food items (NFI); WASH sector; Health & Nutrition sector (Healthcare facilities support); Women Protection and Empowerment sector (WPE) ) and Child Protection Sector in the form of supporting Gender Based Violence survivors and establishment of

Purpose:

Goggoji Zumunchi Development Initiative (GZDI) is seeking a Food Security Coordinator for the implementation of its on-going granted project. This project is designed to provide the following services in Michika and Madagali LGAs: General Food Distribution (GFD) and Blanket Supplementary Feeding Program (BSFP) targeting beneficiaries (Children 6 to 59 months: Pregnant and Lactating Women). the Village Savings and Loans Associations (VSLAs); Case management and providing PSS to unaccompanied & separated children affected by insurgency in Adamawa and Borno State. These were in some host communities, to IDPs and returnees in Yola North, Yola South, Girei, Mubi North, Mubi South, Maiha, Hong, Michika & Madagali LGAs and in Gwoza LGA, Borno State. GZDI is one amongst other Organizations that facilitated in the development of Community Development Plans (CDP) in Mubi North, Gombi & Hong LGAs Adamawa State with support from the Deutsche Gesellschaft Fuer Internationale Zusammenarbeit / German Cooperation (GIZ). GZDI looks forward to collaborating with reputable humanitarian Agencies to provide
necessary support to the distressed IDPs, returnees and hosts in various locations within Adamawa and Borno States.

Role Purpose
o The position holder is overall responsible to lead the food and nutrition security project implementation in – Michika & Madagali and working closely with the LGA government stakeholders and Nutrition and Food Distribution Colleagues for the effective implementation and linkage of CMAM Program with the community and facilities. This
includes providing guidance and support to the team as well as ensuring proper coordination with other Sectors and Organizational functions.
o In addition, the position holder is also expected to provide a consistent and high-quality technical support in the Project implementation and will assist Food and Nutrition Officers, and other Staff in the LGAs to build strong food distribution and nutrition implementation package.

Dimension of Role
o To ensure smooth implementation of food security and nutrition projects in Michika and Madagali, Adamawa State for Humanitarian Support. This includes providing guidance and support to the team as well as ensuring proper Coordination with other Sectors and Organizational functions.
o The Project Coordinator will also work closely with other support departments including Logistics, Finance, MEAL and HR to ensure proper procurement, forecasting and recruitment.

Key Roles/Responsibilities
o Oversee the Development, Planning, Managing and Implementing of the Food and Nutrition Security Projects funded by UNWFP in consultation and collaboration with the Nutrition Officer and GFD Officers.
o Lead implementation of Food distribution and nutrition activities using appropriate WFP Nigeria project management tools to plan, review and track progress and quality by the Food security and Nutrition Team.
o Ensure the relevance and implementation of technically-sound beneficiary selection criteria and approaches;
o Ensure tactical plans for all projects are developed and field level activities are set up efficiently under the integrated model to promote food and nutrition security, and build community resilience to the effects of climate extremes.
o Oversee program quality in accordance with GZDI and WFP policies and best practices.
o Build on existing and seek new synergies for advocacy through the cluster system at LGA level, technical working groups and other fora in Food Security and Nutrition Sector.
o Support cross-sectoral periodic program reviews to assess program progress, capture lessons learnt and adapt program strategies as necessary in accordance with GZDI’s results-based Management principles.
o Ensure strong cooperation and coordination with Gender and Protection Officer to ensure all Food and Nutrition Programming is sensitive to and, where possible, actively reducing protection risks amongst vulnerable population groups.
o Ensure community involvement in all phases of the project cycle.
o Prepare and submit project progress report monthly, quarterly, half-yearly and annual reports, success story, publications and etc.
o Liaise with relevant Advisers to assure program quality and alignment to global, National and GZDI’s standards.
o Conduct above tasks and any other tasks requested by line manager.

Note: the above-mentioned key responsibilities are illustrative ones. Other future responsibilities/accountability may be assigned to the job depending on the department organizational chart.

Technical Expertise, Skills and Knowledge
Essential:

➢ Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a discipline such as Human Nutrition, Agriculture, Business Administration, Management and Economics or any other discipline relevant to development.
➢ Previous experience in a related position for at least 2 years, including managing general Food Distribution & Nutrition Projects.
➢ Experience in remote management.
➢ Experience in working “In-kind Distributions” projects is preferable.
➢ Excellent experience in Microsoft office.
➢ Excellent report-writing skills is an additive
➢ Fluent in written and spoken English and Hausa.
➢ Strong Leadership, Team building, Conflict resolution and ability to deliver GZDI’s strategic objectives.
Desirable:
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Strong data analysis skills and experience.
• Strong communication skills: oral, written and presentation skills.
• Should be a team player and culturally sensitive.
• Extremely flexible, and have the ability to cope with stressful situations
• Facilitate the development and scheduling of volunteer outreach activities.
• Excellent community mobilization skills
• Work closely with partners and their staff to ensure project activities are implemented in
time and within the stipulated quality.
