Global Village Healthcare Initiative for Africa (GHIV Africa) is a Non-governmental, Non-for profit humanitarian/Developmental organization which started in 2014. We deliver assistance and protection to affected populations before, during and after crisis situations.

GHIV Africa was founded to mitigate the health deficit in Africa and to provide all forms of assistance leading to improved quality of life. The organization is equally poised to support the delivery of healthcare services at the doorsteps of every African village by bridging the gap between primary health care delivery and tertiary health care services through a robust referral system.

We provide aid to the most vulnerable population regardless of their religion, race, gender and or political affiliation. Our decisions as an organization are not based on political, economic or religious interest but solely on needs of the affected population.

Background

GHIV Africa since moving to Northeast Nigeria in 2019 has been implementing humanitarian and developmental interventions in Health, Education, WASH, Livelihoods and Protection. These interventions have directly targeted over 6000 vulnerable children, women, girls and boys as well as people with disabilities. 

Determined to expand her interventions to reach more vulnerable groups in the conflict area, GHIV Africa will be implementing Education and Nutrition projects in 5 LGAs of Bama, Gwoza, Damboa, Kaga, and Nganzai in Borno state in partnership with UN OCHA with funding from the Nigerian Humanitarian Funds (NHF) first standard allocation.

In order to successfully implement these projects, GHIV Africa is looking for a suitable candidate for the position of Finance Officer in her Maiduguri office for a one year during of the project.

The incumbent will provide financial support by been in charge of financial transactions and will provide financial oversight and management of funds and producing financial reports on the projects. the finance officer will station in Maiduguri; he/she will be reporting directly to the Executive Director (ED).

Job Summary

l support in providing timely and accurate financial information for the NHF Education project’s expenses in line with requirements and the overall budget. He/she will be in charge of cash management,   payroll, financial disbursements,       ledgers            etc.      and      to         ensure that all financial reporting is completed and submitted on time. 

Responsibilities:

  • Manage cash flow, payroll, financial disbursements, ledgers of the projects
  • Responsible for entering financial information and maintaining all financial records on the accounting system
  • Manage financial control, prepare and analyze budgets, develop financial reports, and make recommendations to the GHIV Africa’s management on budget expenditures.
  • Obtain approvals from the Executive Director on all procurement and purchases for the projects and for the organization.
  • Monitor the expenditures to ensure that program funds are utilized appropriately by the close of the fiscal year.
  • Provide orientation and training to the organization staff on cost-effective management.
  • Ensure that all financial reporting is completed on time and submitted to donors.
  • Provide financial inputs for proposal development, project management, Human Resource Management policies, logistics, travel and other areas of administration.
  • Receive receipts and invoices from staff on external regular purposes and services for retirements
  • Receive invoices and receipts from vendors and contractor on deliveries and contraction completion and issuance proves for payments. 
  • Keep records of all procurement transactions both electronically and manually in line with to GHIV Africa policies.
  • Involve in performing procurement processes – Selection of vendors/suppliers
  • Prepares and mmaintain records of all outstanding purchase orders with external vendors and arranges transportation and forwarding services for all orders to ensure delivery on schedule
  • Provide field logistics information for documentation of purchase for program financial expenditures support the preparation of program audit reports.
  • To work as part of a team; providing support where necessary in area of finance. 
  • Manage travels for staff in the field and for training
  • Ensure all travel and purchases advances are liquidated on time.
  • And any other related task.

    Technical expertise, Skills, Knowledge, and competencies:

  • Qualification: BA/BSc/HND in Accounting or equivalent
  • Minimum of 3 years’ relevant work experience with NGO on a donor funded project.
  • Experience working with donors funded project is highly required.
  • Experience in grant and financial management
  • Develop high knowledge of working to enable projects to meet donor financial outcomes.
  • Good knowledge and skills in the use SAP and QuickBooks 
  • Good computer skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint etc. v Ability to write good, clear and detailed financial report
  • Good command of English in reading, writing and speaking, and ability to speak at least in Hausa.
  • Must be a team player
