Job Summary

We are looking for a dedicated and experienced NGO Finance Officer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing all financial operations, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and providing strategic financial guidance to support the organization’s mission. This role requires a deep understanding of non-profit financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, grant management, and financial reporting. The NGO Finance Officer will work closely with the executive team, program managers, and external stakeholders to ensure the financial health and sustainability of the organization. Key responsibilities include developing and implementing financial policies, managing donor funds, preparing financial statements, and conducting financial analysis. The successful candidate will have strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders. This is a critical role that requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to the values and goals of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement financial policies and procedures.
  • Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes.
  • Manage donor funds and ensure compliance with grant requirements.
  • Prepare and present financial statements and reports.
  • Conduct financial analysis to support strategic decision-making.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards.
  • Coordinate audits and manage relationships with external auditors.
  • Monitor cash flow and manage financial risks.
  • Provide financial training and support to program managers.
  • Collaborate with the executive team to develop financial strategies.
  • Manager accounts payable and receivable processes.
  • Oversee payroll and benefits administration.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.
  • Develop and monitor internal controls to safeguard assets.
  • Support fundraising efforts with financial data and analysis.
  • Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting to donors and stakeholders.
  • Manage financial aspects of contracts and agreements.
  • Supervise and mentor finance staff.
  • Stay updated on financial trends and best practices in the non-profit sector.
  • Assist in the development of organizational budgets and financial plans.

Requirement

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
  • Professional certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in financial management, preferably in the non-profit sector.
  • Strong knowledge of non-profit accounting principles and practices.
  • Experience with grant management and donor reporting.
  • Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly.
  • Experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.
  • Knowledge of financial regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience in managing audits and working with external auditors.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
