Job position – Field Officer (BSFP)                                       Work location – Banki

Reporting to – Field Coordinator                                           Supervision of – Field Assistant (BSFP)

General purpose of the position

Under the close supervision of the Food Security Field Coordinator, the role-holder supervises and reports all aspects of the WFP Blanket supplementary feeding programme (BSFP) activities at the field location within the framework of the WFP project as well as ensuring malnutrition prevention activities. S/he ensures all activities are done in line with the donor requirements, and these activities are achieved in a timely and efficient manner.

Tasks and Main Responsibilities

  • Ensure effective implementation of the WFP Blanket Supplementary Feeding Program (BSFP)
  • Ensure accurate, complete and up to date data are made available for the WFP Blanket Supplementary Feeding Program (BSFP) activities.
  • Provision of technical assistance as well as supportive monitoring and evaluation of the WFP Blanket Supplementary Feeding Program (BSFP) activities.
  • Supervises the WFP Blanket Supplementary Feeding Program (BSFP) project efficiently and effectively.
  • Conduct monthly WFP Blanket Supplementary Feeding Program (BSFP) food supplements distribution activity in the targeted location.
  • Provide technical support to CMAM and IYCF program component within the community.
  • Implement the WFP Blanket Supplementary Feeding Program (BSFP) ‘s Social Behavioural Change Communication (SBCC) activities 
  • Conducts malnutrition prevention awareness sessions, screening and tracking.
  • Develop and supervise an effective mother to mother support group
  • Conduct and supervises the project nutrition specific value adding activities (Home gardening, food hygiene promotion cooking demonstration etc)
  • Implement a social behavioral change communication strategy at the community level
  • Supervise the WFP Blanket Supplementary Feeding Program (BSFP) malnourished children’s referrals
  • Manages the activities of the Community Nutrition Mobilizers (CNMs)
  • Provide malnutrition prevention training to community nutrition mobilizers
  • Presentation of monthly nutrition progress report

Preparation of Daily, Weekly & Monthly reports of the BSFP project activities.

  • Attends relevant Local Coordinator Sector Meeting.
  • Implement other tasks as might be required with relation to the INTERSOS Country Program in Nigeria.

Position Requirements

Professional requirements.  

  • B.Sc/H.ND Degree in science. 
  • Minimum 3 years of experience at national level project implementation position in a humanitarian / developmental context.  
  • Technical Food Security knowledge of WFP Blanket Supplementary Feeding Program (BSFP), Crop production, Home

gardening;

Personal requirements

  • Fluency in English and Hausa is required.
  • Ability to develop collaborative and harmonious relationship with external partners and clients at all levels.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to multitask and work within deadlines
