Overview of Position
Under the general supervision of the Head of Mission and the Programme Manager – MRRM, and under the supervision of the M&E Officer-MRRM, and also in close collaboration with the Senior Database Assistant-MRRM and the Senior M&E Assistant-MRRM, the investigator will have to support the implementation of the monitoring and evaluation activities of the MRRM Programme through the collection of quality data within the time frame.
Post summary:
Under the supervision of the Senior Assistant Database, the investigator will work in the field in close collaboration with the beneficiaries of the projects/programs in strict compliance with the codes of conduct of the International Organization for Migration. He/she will be responsible for collecting qualitative and quantitative data from beneficiaries that are linked to the activities of all IOM programs, and in particular the “MRRM” program in Niger.
The main task of the investigator is to complete the questionnaire and follow the instructions given during training. They will also need to learn to spot inconsistencies in what is reported to them.
Role Objectives
Functions / Responsibilities:
- Carry out individual interviews, focus groups and verification of collected data
- Fully master all the tools and manual provided during theoretical and practical training
- Familiarize yourself with the survey tools (questionnaires)
- Carry out field trips to collect data on beneficiaries and participate attentively and proactively in capacity building
- Treat interviewed beneficiaries with respect in accordance with the Organization’s codes of conduct
- Maintain good communication with interviewees or contactees
- Ensure that you act with caution and comply with safety standards
- Maintain the confidentiality of the data collected.
- Ensure the protection of migrant data, respect for professional secrecy and guarantee of confidentiality
- Perform any other related tasks as requested by the supervisor.

Key Competencies
Education
- Have a Bac+2 or equivalent degree in social sciences, education, economics, or a related field, from an accredited academic institution, with 2 years of relevant professional experience,
- High school diploma with 3 years of relevant professional experience.
Experiences
- Proven experience in collecting qualitative and quantitative project data;
- Very good computer skills, including MS Office suite.
- Knowledge of data collection software (ODK, Kobo, CommCare, MS Access etc.) is a distinct advantage;
- Excellent writing and proofreading skills;
- Experience in an international NGO would be an asset.
LANGUAGES
- Very good command of the French language.
- Good command of the English language.
- Very good command of national languages (Hausa, Zarma, Tamashek, Kanouri, Peulh)
