JOB TITLE: CP PSS/CFS Facilitator
LOCATION: Magumeri & Dikwa (Borno State)
REPORTING TO: Protection Officer
JOB PURPOSE:
CB PSS Adolescent Facilitators support INTERSOS Child Protection response in the community. They manage daily CB PSS activities and CFS operations, referring cases of concern to the FTR Focal Points and Case Workers for Family Tracing and Reunification and Psychosocial Support Services. The CB CFS/PSS Facilitator works under the overall supervision of the Protection Manager, direct supervision of the Protection Officer, and in close collaboration with the project team. They act as community watchdogs to enhance the protection of vulnerable children, planning and implementing activities in Child-Friendly Spaces (CFS) to create a safe environment for children to play, learn, socialize, and improve their well-being.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee the proper and safe filing and archiving of CFS client and activity report files to maintain data confidentiality per INTERSOS and international standards.
- Carry out tasks respecting key protection principles, including but not limited to:
- Do no harm
- Non-discrimination
- Confidentiality
- Accountability
- Need-to-know principles
OTHER PSS & CFS ACTIVITIES:
- Create a weekly schedule of PSS recreational activities at the CFS.
- Use various structured games, well-being, and learning activities tailored to children of different ages, genders, and abilities.
- Ensure a safe, friendly, and joyful atmosphere for children in the CFS.
- Make children feel comfortable, safe, and respected.
- Promote equal participation in all activities and fairness among children.
- Be a positive role model and demonstrate non-conflict-solving behaviors.
- Record daily attendance of children at the CFS.
- Monitor children’s behavior closely and report any signs of distress to the Social/Case Workers.
- Ensure the CFS is clean and organized, and store all items safely at the end of the day.
- Monitor community volunteers’ progress in assisting with CFS management and age-appropriate activities.
- Support the Protection Officer in compiling child protection activity reports at the CFS.
- Perform any other duties as required by the Protection Officer, Protection Manager, or Protection Coordinator.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- University degree in a related field (e.g., Social Work, Psychology) is an asset.
- 1 year of relevant work experience in child protection as a CFS facilitator.
- Essential computer literacy (Word, Excel, and Internet).
- Fluency in local languages.
- Respectful and non-discriminatory attitude, empathy.
- Interpersonal and communication skills.
- Reporting skills.
- Capacity to work under pressure.
- Commitment to INTERSOS principles.
- Willingness to work extra hours and be available on weekends for emergency cases.
- Fluency in English, Kanuri, and Hausa.
