Role Overview
PSHAN is seeking a skilled and motivated Communications Officer to lead the development and execution of strategic communications across the organisation. This role sits at the intersection of content strategy, brand identity, and stakeholder engagement — responsible for ensuring PSHAN communicates with clarity, consistency, and impact across all internal and external channels. The successful candidate will bring a creative eye, a strategic mindset, and the initiative to drive communications that reflect the organisation’s mission and values.
Core Responsibilities Content Storytelling
- Develop and execute content across digital, print, and social channels — from concept through to final delivery.
- Write, edit, and produce communications including web copy, newsletters, event collateral, and organisational announcements.
- Manage the corporate communications editorial calendar, coordinating across departments to maintain consistent, timely messaging.
Brand Design
- Produce on-brand design assets using tools such as Canva, Capcut, or equivalent.
- Maintain brand consistency across all materials and touchpoints, managing branded collateral inventory within budget.
- Provide creative direction to external vendors and designers, ensuring quality and brand alignment.
Digital Social Media
- Own PSHAN’s social media presence by developing platform-specific strategies, scheduling content, and monitoring engagement.
- Monitor and respond to social media and email enquiries in a timely, on-brand manner.
- Track and analyse performance metrics across digital channels to continuously improve content strategy.
- Keep the organisation’s website current, accurate, and aligned with brand standards.
Strategic Communications s Stakeholder Engagement
- Identify and act on opportunities to strengthen PSHAN’s visibility and influence among key
stakeholders.
- Support media engagement securing media appearances, managing press relationships, coordinating media requests,
- Develop creative campaigns to drive awareness of key programmes, initiatives, and organisational milestones.
Advocacy Impact Communications
- Translate PSHAN’s programmes and outcomes into compelling narratives that resonate
with members, partners, and other key stakeholders.
- Contribute to communications strategies that advance PSHAN’s impact and strengthen its voice on key issues.
Events s Project Management
- Lead communications planning for events by managing logistics, vendor coordination, and post-event reporting.
- Manage multiple concurrent projects, consistently delivering to a high standard within deadlines.
Requirements s Qualifications Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Media Studies, or a related field.
- 2 – 3 years of hands-on experience in a communications, content, or creative role. (prior experience in the NGO or development sector is an advantage)
Skills Competencies
- Exceptional writing and editing skills with ability to adapt tone and voice across audiences, formats, and platforms.
- Demonstrated design capability i.e. proficient in Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or comparable tools.
- Strategic thinker who can connect day-to-day execution to broader organisational objectives.
- Working knowledge of social media strategy, platform behaviour, and analytics across LinkedIn, Instagram, X, and other key channels
- Strong project management skills i.e. organised, self-directed, and comfortable managing competing priorities.
- Ability to work effectively across teams and functions.
- Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with evolving priorities.
