Association for Reproductive and Family Health (ARFH) is a leading Non-Governmental and Not-for-Profit Organization established in 1989 by two eminent and reputable Nigerians who are the most prominent advocates of Sexual Reproductive Health (SRH) and Family Planning (FP) programming in Nigeria. ARFH, a Nigerian fully indigenous, Non- Governmental, and Not-for-Profit organization had implemented projects across the 36+1 states of Nigeria on cross cutting programs including Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child and Adolescent Health plus Nutrition Investment Case (RMNCAH+N), Family Planning (FP), Global fund grants on HIV, TB and Malaria as Prime & Sub recipient, USAID grants on Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) among others.

ARFH since inception consistently contribute to the improvement of the quality of life of rural poor, vulnerable and disadvantaged populations. ARFH has been at the fore-front of Health & community system strengthening, Human resource for health development in Nigeria, supporting the Government of Nigeria to advocate and domesticate health policies into implementation e.g. its task-shifting and task sharing policy through capacity building for all cadres of health care providers including Physicians, Nurse midwives, and CHEWs.

ARFH has its headquarter in Ibadan and operational offices in Abuja, Lagos, and collaborate with State Ministry of Health across the 36 states plus FCT. Our mission is to initiate, promote and implement in partnership with other organizations, developmental, HIV & AIDS, TB, SRH, and family planning program and interventions for young people and adults through capacity building, technical assistance, operations research, and evaluation to improve the quality of life in Nigeria and elsewhere in Africa.

Background

  • Association for Reproductive and Family Health (ARFH) is one of the leading Nigerian Non-Governmental Organizations implementing programs for improving Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child and Adolescent Health (RMNCAH+ N) services and other Public health promoting activities including Care and Treatment of HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis (TB) and Malaria, etc.
  • With support from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF), ARFH is contributing to a reduction in maternal morbidity and mortality in Enugu, Gombe, Kano, Lagos, Nasarawa, Niger, Plateau, and Yobe States by supporting the Government of Nigeria to increase access to Family Planning especially DMPA-SC and self-injection (SI) information and services to expand access to a wide range of methods and close the gap in the unmet need for FP.
  • We therefore seek applications from qualified Community Based Organisations in Gombe, Nasarawa, Kano and Yobe States to serve as Coordinating CBOs on a five-year intervention.

Programme Role
The specific roles of the CBOs will be to:

  • Collaborate with the State Primary Health Care Development Board on FP programming in the state including RH Technical Working Group meetings
  • Conduct initial project entry and community sensitization in collaboration with ARFH
  • Conduct continuous advocacy visits to the project communities and key stakeholders
  • Coordinate project planning, implementation and evaluation in collaboration with ARFH at the LGA level
  • Work with the State FP Coordinator and LGA FP Supervisors to support the selection of CHIPS/CORPs at the LGA levels.
  • Organize trainings on demand generation, service provision, data generation & reporting for CHIPS/CORPs.
  • Collaborate with other FP stakeholders and security agencies to monitor, manage and optimize project coordination and implementation in security-challenged LGAs
  • Work with the State FP Coordinator, LGA FP Supervisors and LGA M&E Officers to conduct monthly monitoring and supportive supervision to the CHIPS/CORPs
  • Coordinate with State Health Educators to conduct monthly community mobilization and outreach activities with the CHIPS / CORPs to generate demand and provide FP services
  • Strengthening the linkage between the CHIPS/CORPs and service providers in health facilities
  • Submit monthly report of activities to the State and ARFH

Eligibility Criteria

  • Applying organisations must be registered with the government with evidence of Corporate Affairs Commission certificate
  • Must have a physical presence in the state applying for
  • Must have a wide spread of implementation in all the LGAs of the state applying for
  • Must have experience working with the government on similar intervention
  • Must have a functional board of trustees
  • Must have previous experience implementing / coordinating donor-funded Family planning projects at the community level
