Position:  Cook/ Cleaner in Monguno Borno state

The MENTOR Initiative is a UK registered charitable, not-for-profit, non-governmental organization working globally to relieve human suffering from tropical diseases. With support from BHA-PUI, USDA and UNF, The MENTOR Initiative is implementing Emergency Control of Malaria amongst high malarious areas in Borno state. The MENTOR Initiative works in close partnership with the MoH in Nigeria to build technical capacity and effective planning and responses to malaria and other VBDs.

Overall Job Purpose: To assist the Finance & Admin Officer   

Location: Monguno, with occasional travel to other bases

Reporting to: Finance & Admin Officer   

Key tasks and responsibilities:

Mission and principal activities:

  • Cleaning the office rooms including vacuum cleaning, desks, chairs, windows, windows net and office equipment.
  • Ensure to respond to the staff members in case of any needs related to the job.
  • Prepare Tea/Coffee and lunches for staff when required and ensure that the kitchen is clean after each meal and clean any dishes in the kitchen in the morning.
  • Maintenance and clean all cleaning equipment utilized.
  • Keeps office room floors, surfaces, furniture, walls, doors, windows, carpets cleaned and hygienic.
  • Ensure bathrooms in the house are clean at all times.
  • Ensure that the outside areas are clean at all times.
  • Once a week, clean the personal rooms of the staff members in both the office and accommodation houses.
  • Assist in the loading, unloading and movement of furniture, equipment, cargo, and office supplies.
  • Performed variety of unskilled tasks as helper.
  • To ensure toilets and office required items/supplies (soap, spray, towel) are cleaned and well organized.
  • Shopping from time to time as requested.
  • Emptying of garbage’s from the offices and warehouse. 
  • Perform all other work-related duties.
  • Adhere to the agreed MENTOR Code of conduct on Ethics and Integrity and safeguarding including Whistle blowing policies.

As the MENTOR Initiative is working in a constantly changing humanitarian aid environment, reasonable specific work duties may be requested that may not fit into the above job description, but which will help promote over all programs goals and aims. Similarly, while work on weekends will not normally be required, requests to do so should be regarded as falling within the 40hr working week stipulated within the MENTOR-Initiative’s standard working contract, of which this job description forms a part.
