Job Title: HR Officer – Internal
Location: Maiduguri, Nigeria
General Context of the Job/Project:
The HR Officer responsible in facilitating the recruitment and onboarding processes for new hires within SHO’s projects. This position is responsible for ensuring proper documentation, supporting recruitment activities, preparing contracts, and ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations related to HR.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Support the recruitment process by assisting in job advertisement, candidate screening, scheduling interviews, and conducting reference checks.
- Facilitate the onboarding process for new hires, including orientation sessions, completion of required paperwork, and provision of necessary information and resources.
- Ensure accurate and timely filing of employee documentation, including contracts, personnel records, and other HR-related information.
- Prepare employment contracts for casual and full-time workers, ensuring compliance with SHO policies and relevant labor laws.
- Coordinate with project managers and department heads to identify staffing needs and develop recruitment plans accordingly.
- Maintain HR databases and records, updating employee information and generating reports as needed.
- Provide support and guidance to staff members on HR-related matters, including policies, procedures, and benefits.
- Assist in performance management processes, including probationary reviews, performance appraisals, and disciplinary actions as necessary.
- Stay informed about changes in local labor laws and regulations, ensuring SHO’s HR practices remain compliant.
- Collaborate with finance and administration teams to ensure accurate payroll processing and timely payment of salaries and benefits.
Essential Knowledge and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or a related field. Professional certification in HR management is preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in HR roles, preferably within the humanitarian or development sector.
- Strong understanding of recruitment processes, including sourcing, screening, and interviewing techniques.
- Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in document management and record-keeping.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications, HRIS software, and other relevant tools for HR management.
- Knowledge of local labor laws, regulations, and best practices in HR management.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Strong commitment to SHO’s mission and values, with a dedication to promoting a positive work environment.
