1. Background
Terre des hommes (Tdh) is committed to strengthening the project management capabilities of its staff and partners to improve the quality, accountability, and effectiveness of interventions across all operational contexts. To support this objective, Tdh seeks the services of a qualified consultant to deliver a comprehensive 5-day Project Management for Development (Project DPro/PMD Pro) Level 1 Training.
This training aims to enhance participants’ knowledge and practical skills in the project life cycle, project design, planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning (MEAL), in alignment with recognized international humanitarian and development standards.
2. Purpose of the Consultancy
The purpose of this consultancy is to design and deliver a robust Project DPro training that equips participants with practical tools, competency-based knowledge, and readiness to manage development and humanitarian projects effectively.
3. Training Objectives
The consultant will ensure that participants:
- Understand and apply the complete Project DPro project life cycle model.
- Strengthen skills in problem analysis, stakeholder engagement, and project governance.
- Learn and practice project design tools including Theory of Change, LogFrame, indicators, and risk assessment.
- Acquire competencies in project planning, budgeting, scheduling, resource allocation, and implementation monitoring.
- Build strong MEAL competencies including data collection, accountability systems, and adaptive management.
- Understand project control, change management, quality assurance, and ethical leadership.
- Prepare effectively for the Project DPro Level 1 certification exam.
4. Scope of Work
The consultant will be responsible for:
- Conducting a brief pre-training assessment to understand participant profiles and capacity gaps.
- Designing a detailed training agenda aligned with the Project DPro Guide.
- Delivering a highly participatory 5-day in-person training, including case studies, group work, practical exercises, and mock assessments.
- Providing soft and hard copies of training materials, tools, and templates.
- Facilitating certification exam preparation.
- Producing a final training report with recommendations for ongoing capacity development.
5. Training Duration and Structure
The consultancy will cover five (5) full days from 13th – 23rd February 2026 (Tentative), structured as follows:
- Day 1: Project Management Foundations, Project Life Cycle, Stakeholder Analysis
- Day 2: Problem Analysis, Theory of Change, LogFrame Development, Indicators
- Day 3: Work Planning, Gantt Charts, Resource & Budget Planning, Procurement
- Day 4: MEAL Frameworks, Data Collection Tools, Accountability & Learning
- Day 5: Project Control, Change Management, Compliance, Closure
6. Deliverables
The consultant will provide:
- Pre-training assessment summary
- Full training agenda and methodology
- Training materials (PowerPoint slides, toolkit, templates, exercises)
- Delivery of 5-day training session
- Post-training evaluation analysis
- Final training report with recommendations
7. Required Documents and Consultant Qualifications:
The successful consultant must have:
- Certificate of Incorporation (CAC Certificate): Proof of legal business registration in Nigeria (if applying as a company).
- Tax Identification Number (TIN): Proof of tax compliance (if applying as an Individual).
- Tax Clearance Certificate: Proof of tax compliance (if applying as a company).
- Valid Means of Identification: National Identity Card, Driver’s License, or International Passport.
- SCUML Registration Certificate: Evidence of registration under anti–money laundering and counter-terrorism financing regulations applicable to designated non-financial institutions (if applying as a company).
- At least 5–7 years of experience in development or humanitarian project management.
- Certification in Project DPro Level 1 or Level 2 (mandatory).
- Proven experience delivering PMD Pro/Project DPro trainings.
- Strong facilitation skills using adult learning methodologies.
- Demonstrated knowledge of donor compliance (ECHO, SDC etc.).
- Ability to contextualize tools for local partner organizations.
8. Duration and Level of Effort
- Total days required: 5 full training days + 2 days for preparation and reporting.
- Training dates: 16TH TO 20TH February 2026.
- Location: Amada Hotels, Maiduguri
9. Logistics and Support Provided by Tdh
Tdh will provide:
- Venue, meals, and training materials printing
- Participant mobilization and communication
- Projector, stationery, and other training logistics
- Administrative support as needed
