Grow Strong Foundation (GSF) is a child-focused women and youth-led non-profit organization established in 2017. GSF is providing humanitarian assistance to Children, IDPs, and other highly vulnerable in collaboration with NHF-OCHA in Northeastern Nigeria. Position: Consortium Finance Officer
Location: GSF HQ, Oversee field offices in the Yobe State
Reporting: Admin and Finance Manager
Starting Date: 13- March-2024
Languages Required: English, Hausa
Purpose:
To be responsible for mmanaging the consortium’s budget and grant funds, creating accurate financial reports for donors and partners, ensuring financial activities comply with donor regulations, and collaborating with finance teams from each NGO partner.
Job Responsibilities:
Financial Management:
- Budget Management: Assist in consolidating separate budgets from each consortium partner, ensuring alignment with donor templates and project goals.
- Grant Management: Track grant expenditures against the approved budget, identifying and addressing any variances.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare accurate and timely financial reports for the consortium, adhering to donor reporting requirements and deadlines. This may involve consolidating reports from partner organizations.
- Internal Controls: Implement and maintain strong internal controls to safeguard consortium funds and ensure compliance with financial regulations.
- Payments & Disbursements: Process payments to consortium partners for project activities as per agreed-upon timelines and procedures.
- Financial Reconciliation: Facilitate regular bank reconciliations and ensure all financial records are accurate and up-to-date.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Liaison: Work closely with finance teams from each consortium partner to exchange information, address financial queries, and ensure smooth financial management of the project.
- Communication: Clearly communicate financial information and reporting requirements to consortium partners and other stakeholders.
Donor Compliance:
- Maintain a thorough understanding of donor financial regulations and policies.
- Ensure all financial activities comply with donor requirements.
- Assist with the preparation of financial sections of proposals to donors.
- Ensuring accurate budgeting and adherence to donor guidelines.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of financial risk management strategies for the consortium.
- Maintain a central repository for all project-related financial documentation
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in financial management, preferably within the NGO sector.
- Strong understanding of non-profit accounting principles and donor financial regulations.
- Experience working with budgets, grants, and financial reporting.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in financial management software (e.g., QuickBooks).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
