About HECADF:
Health Care Development Focus Initiative (HECADF) is a registered non-governmental, non- profit organization founded in 2008 and officially incorporated in 2010. Driven by a deep commitment to promoting human dignity, HECADF addresses the interconnected challenges of poverty, poor health, and social marginalization. Our mission is to enhance the optimum integrated development of people through community engagement and services focused on Social cohesion, Nutrition, SRHR, GBV, WASH, Health, Protection, and Livelihood Skills. Our vision is to promote a healthy, productive, and peaceful society. HECADF is currently implementing a vital project in Bama Local Government Area of Borno State, aimed at strengthening community mechanisms for the prevention and response to Gender-Based Violence in Emergencies (GBViE) and Sexual and Reproductive Health in Emergencies (SRHiE). We are seeking enthusiastic Community Volunteer to be an integral part of this impactful initiative.

As a Community Volunteer with HECADF, you will directly contribute to our goal of empowering people with adequate information and providing services that enhance good health, high productivity, and a peaceful society. During this period, you will work alongside our dedicated team to engage communities, raise awareness, and foster positive change. Your Volunteer Role Will Involve Supporting Key HECADF Activities Such As:
- Raising Awareness: Assisting HECADF in disseminating crucial information about GBV risks and the importance of integrated SRH services, emphasizing the rights of women and girls to safe and confidential care.
- Community Engagement: Supporting HECADF in organizing and conducting inclusive community sensitization sessions in local languages, reaching diverse community members in line with our participatory approach.
- Facilitating Dialogue: Working with HECADF’s trained facilitators to assist in community- based workshops, dialogues, and Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) that explore perceptions and challenges related to GBV and SRH, fostering community-driven solutions.
- Strengthening Referral Pathways: Contributing to HECADF’s efforts to map and share information about available GBV and SRH service providers within the community, ensuring access to vital support.
- Supporting Community Forums: Assisting HECADF in the organization and participation in forums that engage community leaders and representatives to address harmful practices and promote survivor support, aligning with our focus on social cohesion and protection.
- Assisting Training Initiatives: Providing logistical support to HECADF’s training sessions for community volunteers and gatekeepers on GBV risk identification and survivor- centered approaches, contributing to capacity building.
- Reaching Vulnerable Populations: Supporting HECADF’s commitment to inclusivity by actively participating in efforts to ensure information and support reach vulnerable individuals, including female-headed households, persons with disabilities, and adolescent mothers.
Requirements:
Residents of Bama Local Government Area of Borno State only, are expected to apply to support HECADF’s community-based approach and sustainability. A strong alignment with HECADF’s vision, mission, and goal. Enthusiasm to contribute to HECADF’s work in GBV and SRH in emergency contexts. Good communication and interpersonal skills, reflecting HECADF’s emphasis on community engagement. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, supporting HECADF’s commitment to effective service delivery. Ability to work collaboratively as part of the HECADF team. Respect for local culture and sensitivity to gender issues, in line with HECADF’s rights- based approach. Possession of an SSCE, NCE, Diploma, or relevant experience in community work, social work, health, or related fields is highly desirable and aligns with HECADF’s focus on skilled interventions.
