Since the insurgency began in 2009, many lives were lost and properties worth billions of Naira destroyed. There has been a lot of migration of people from one location to another location which is considered relatively peaceful, as a result, many are displaced and homeless and many international organizations are bringing relief services in the areas of Education, Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), Food Security and Livelihood (FSL), Protection, Health and other sectors as listed out in the Humanitarian Response Plan. Some of the Local Government Areas (LGA) are relatively peaceful and there is a high population density with men and women who are suffering from poverty and children who are vulnerable to illiteracy.
Community Mobilization Officers-

Job Overview / Summary:
- Under the supervision of Education Officer, the Community Mobilization Officer will coordinate with community stakeholders and strategize on effective implementation of the project
- Will ensure that venues for all stakeholder’s engagements, trainings are arranged on time and shared with the Education officer
- As well coordinate with other actors working in the community.
Major Responsibilities
- With technical support from Education Officer, support the roll down of Education programme through providing technical support to Volunteers.
- Support the establishment/strengthening of SBMC and CPCs.
- Support Education Officers in conducting technical capacity assessment of schools and AEP canters.
- Keep track of other assessments conducted by different agencies, government in communities and inform Education officers.
- Provide technical support to strengthen community development committee and carry out biannual meeting together with Education officer.
- Support Education Officers in preparing budget plan for trainings, logistic requirement and financial requirement.
Key Working Relationships:
- Position Reports to: Education Officer
- Indirect/Technical Reporting: Program Manager
- Position directly Supervises: Field staff
- Key Internal Contacts: Other LABI sector’s staff,
- Key External Contacts: Community members, school teachers and other NGOs staff.
Work Experience:
- Counselling, Teaching or community level engagement experience, including experience working with women and girls preferred
- Must have worked in the same or similar capacity for at least 2 years
Demonstrated Technical Skills:
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and respect for clients at all times is essential.
- Excellent listening and observation skills, including ability to create trust, support, respect and interact with survivors of all ages, background and diversity
- Ability to facilitate trainings and sessions, including group support activities with women and girls.
- Ability to keep records and write simple and basic reports of activities would be an added advantage.
- Demonstrated Managerial/Leadership Competencies:
- Ability to work as a member of a team essential
- Positive and professional attitude, able to organize, maintain composure and prioritize work under pressure, work overtime when necessary and be able to coordinate multiple tasks and maintain attention to detail.
Languages:
- Ability to communicate in English, Hausa, Kanuri and Babur
Computer / Other Tech Requirements:
- Full professional competency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word, Excel and PowerPoint, is an advantage.
