We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Communication Assistant to join our team and help us effectively share our mission, work, and impact with a wider audience.
Job Summary:
The Communication Assistant will support the development and implementation of PRIDE Initiative’s communication strategies. The role involves creating content, managing social media platforms, and assisting with internal and external communications to enhance the visibility of PRIDE Initiative’s projects and achievements. The successful candidate will also help ensure the timely dissemination of information to key stakeholders and the general public.
Responsibilities:
Content Creation and Management:
- Assist in drafting, editing, and proofreading content for newsletters, press releases, reports, and social media posts.
- Support the production of multimedia content (videos, photos, infographics) to showcase PRIDE Initiative’s activities.
- Help maintain the organization’s website and ensure content is up to date.
- Create and schedule posts across social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.).
Social Media and Online Engagement:
- Monitor social media accounts and engage with followers, responding to comments and messages in a timely manner.
- Track social media metrics and compile reports to assess the reach and impact of online campaigns.
- Support the development of digital campaigns to raise awareness about PRIDE Initiative’s work.
Internal and External Communications:
- Assist with internal communications, ensuring staff are informed about key organizational updates and news.
- Support external communication efforts with donors, partners, and the public.
- Maintain a database of media contacts and assist with media outreach efforts.
- Help organize and coordinate communication-related events, workshops, and press conferences.
Reporting and Documentation:
- Contribute to the development of communication reports, including monthly updates and project highlights.
- Help document PRIDE Initiative’s activities through photos, interviews, and success stories from the field.
- Maintain organized files of communication materials and media coverage.
Requirements:
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or related field.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in communications, media, or public relations.
- Strong writing and editing skills with attention to detail.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Experience in the humanitarian or NGO sector.
- Familiarity with content management systems (CMS) and social media tools.
- Basic knowledge of graphic design and video editing software.
Skills:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in social media management and digital marketing tools.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Basic IT skills, including Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
