About the Project

This project, Emeregency Response for Malnutrition, is designed to address the worsening food and nutritional security among U2 children and PLW. The project will provide essential food assistance to vulnerable households, focusing on those most impacted by food insecurity. The goal is to improve food security, nutrition, and hygiene practices, while also enhancing agricultural productivity and economic resilience of vulnerable households.

Key Responsibilities o Oversee the implementation of the cash-based transfer (CBT) modality, ensuring that all processes are carried out efficiently, securely, and in alignment with the project objectives.

• Coordinate the identification, registration, and verification of beneficiaries for the cash transfer program, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records.
• Organize and manage cash distribution sessions, including the issuance of prepaid cards, and ensure the secure and timely disbursement of funds to beneficiaries. o Monitor the use of cash transfers by beneficiaries to ensure funds are spent on intended purposes, and provide regular reports on cash transfer activities, including disbursement status, challenges, and outcomes.
• Support the market monitoring system by collecting and analyzing data on key markets and commodities relevant to the project, and use this information to inform the cash transfer program.
• Liaise with local authorities, community leaders, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth implementation of cash transfer activities and resolve any challenges that arise. o Train and support Community Health Workers (CHWs), volunteers, and other relevant staff on the principles and practices of cash-based interventions.
• Ensure that all cash transfer activities adhere to organizational policies, donor regulations, and international best practices, including safeguarding measures and beneficiary protection.
• Conduct sensitization sessions with beneficiaries to ensure they understand how to use the cash transfers effectively and responsibly. o Identify and mitigate risks associated with cash transfers, including fraud prevention and the security of cash distribution processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Social Sciences, Development Studies, or a related field. A Master’s degree is an advantage.
• At least 5 years of experience in implementing cash-based transfer programs, particularly in humanitarian or development contexts.
• Strong understanding of cash transfer modalities, including the use of prepaid cards, mobile money, and other digital payment systems. Experience with market assessments and beneficiary targeting processes.
• Proven ability to manage project components independently, including planning, execution, and monitoring of cash transfer activities.
• Ability to analyze market data and make informed decisions regarding the cash transfer program.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage effectively with beneficiaries, team members, and stakeholders.
• Experience working in conflict-affected or challenging environments, with a deep understanding of the local context and cultural dynamics.
• Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of local languages in Zamfara State is an asset.
• Proficiency in using data management and reporting tools, including MS Excel and relevant software for cash transfer programs.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to adapt to changing situations and manage unforeseen challenges in the field.
• Demonstrated commitment to upholding ethical standards, particularly in managing cash transfer programs and interacting with vulnerable populations.
