CONSULTANT TO UNDERTAKE THE DEVELOPMENT AND RECORDING OF VIDEO LESSONS

Background

The rise in the spread of COVID-19 which led to the closure of schools in March 2020 and later reopened in October 2020 has left a severe impact on the number of children who had dropped out of schools. 

The Learn at Home Program (LHP) which used alternative learning options such as broadcast of lessons through television and radio allowed children learn even during the period of school closure. 

Teacher training activities was halted due to the restriction of large gatherings. Training of teachers on effective pedagogy becomes vital due to the loss in education for the children and the need to catch up. 

Video recorded lessons will use experienced teachers who will be guided by the consultant to deliver formal school lessons based on the government approved curriculum and an already developed learner’s workbook. The lessons will be uploaded in tablet phones to be handed over to teachers who can then watch and be guided on innovative pedagogical methods around teaching and learning.

270 episodes of the video lessons drawn from English, Mathematics and Basic Science workbooks for primaries 1 – 6 will be recorded in English, Kanuri, Hausa and Fulfulde languages.

The specific project objectives are as follows:

 1. To develop a learner centered and inclusive recorded video lessons using lesson content from already developed workbooks.  

The project is located in Borno and Adamawa state

Specific tasks for the Consultant

1. Collect, review and analyze learner’s workbook already developed. 
2. Engage with video lesson teachers from SUBEB, coach and orient on using innovative pedagogical method. 
3. The consultant will collaborate with the cinematographers while recording to support teacher’s capacity on the use of culturally adaptive teaching aid during teaching.

A detailed methodology is to be submitted by the applicant alongside other items as stated in

“method of application”

Duration of the Work

a.       The duration of the work shall be for a maximum of two months commencing from 24^th May, 2021.

Deliverables

1.  270 episodes of the video lessons drawn from English, Mathematics and Basic Science for primaries 1 – 6 recorded in English, Kanuri, Hausa and Fulfulde languages

Required Expertise and Qualifications

1. Minimum of a bachelor’s degree
2. A minimum of five years’ experience in the education sector.
3. Strong knowledge of the Nigerian education system.
4. Strong knowledge of state and federal education regulations and policies 5. Experience in teacher trainings in pedagogy. 
5. Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
6. Ability to work independently based on agreed work plan and schedule 8. Experience working with multimedia/ videography an asset.
