About the Role
We are seeking a dynamic, results-oriented Project Manager to provide strategic leadership and ensure high-quality implementation of our programs in Maiduguri. The successful candidate will oversee project lifecycles, drive team performance, build cross-sectoral partnerships, and contribute to long-term impact in line with our mission and values.
This role is ideal for a seasoned project leader with a passion for community development, proven strategic insight, and the ability to thrive in fast-paced, multi-stakeholder environments.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Strategy
– Lead the execution of organizational mission and strategic objectives.
– Develop and operationalize project strategies aligned with overall programmatic goals.
– Monitor implementation milestones, timelines, and resource utilization to ensure delivery within scope and budget.
Stakeholder Engagement & Representation
– Establish and maintain strong relationships with donors, government entities, NGOs, and community-based partners.
– Represent the organization in high-level engagements, forums, media, and advocacy platforms.
– Promote awareness of organizational initiatives and build public trust and visibility.
Program Oversight & Performance
– Coordinate across departments and ensure synergy among programmatic units.
– Supervise and support departmental leads, offering guidance and performance feedback.
– Lead risk identification and mitigation strategies; implement adaptive management practices to ensure project continuity.
Fundraising & Resource Mobilization
– Support partnership development and grant proposal efforts.
– Drive strategies for sponsorship, donor engagement, and sustainable funding.
Financial Management & Compliance
– Develop and manage project budgets in collaboration with the finance team.
– Monitor financial performance and ensure compliance with donor and regulatory requirements.
Team Development & Culture
– Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and performance-driven work environment.
– Mentor and develop staff to enhance individual and organizational capacity.
Key Qualifications and Experience
– Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Development Studies, Social Work, Education, International Relations, or related fields.
– Minimum of 3 years of experience in project/program management within NGOs, donor-funded initiatives, or the development sector.
– Proven track record in partnership development, stakeholder coordination, and program implementation.
– Experience with education or advocacy programs is highly desirable.
– Familiarity with international donor compliance and reporting standards is an added advantage.
– Willingness to travel within Nigeria and occasionally internationally.
– Multilingual ability (Hausa, Kanuri, Shuwa) is a strong asset.
Skills and Competencies
– Exceptional leadership and team-building capabilities.
– Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
– Excellent verbal and written communication in English.
– Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., Asana, MS Project, Gantt charts).
– Strong budgeting, financial oversight, and reporting capabilities.
– Familiarity with procurement processes and vendor negotiations.
