About the Role
STRATEGIC HUMANITARIAN AID DEVELOPMENT ORGANISATION (SHADE) is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Admin & Finance Officer to manage administrative systems, financial reporting, and compliance across programs in Maiduguri. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining operational efficiency, donor compliance, and robust internal controls.
This position is ideal for professionals with strong accounting, administrative, and organizational skills, especially those experienced in humanitarian or development contexts.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Management
- Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, including ledgers, vouchers, and cash books.
- Process payments, manage bank reconciliations, and ensure timely financial reporting.
- Support the preparation of budgets and monitor expenditure against approved budgets.
- Administrative Support
- Oversee office operations including asset management, procurement, and logistics.
- Ensure timely filing and documentation of all official correspondence and records.
- Coordinate travel and meeting arrangements for project staff and guests.
- Compliance & Reporting
- Ensure adherence to donor and internal financial policies and procedures.
- Assist in audits, donor reporting, and statutory returns including tax and pension compliance.
- Maintain confidentiality and data protection standards for financial and HR records.
- Team Coordination & Support
- Support the HR unit in maintaining personnel records and payroll preparation.
- Coordinate with program and field staff to ensure smooth administrative and financial processes.
Key Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in finance and administration within an NGO or development context.
- Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks, Excel) and financial reporting tools.
- Knowledge of Nigerian tax laws, donor compliance (especially UN and EU), and procurement procedures.
- Strong communication skills and fluency in English. Knowledge of Hausa or Kanuri is an added advantage.
- High integrity, accuracy, and attention to detail.
