atmosfair is a German non-profit organization that actively contributes to COâ‚‚ mitigation by promoting, developing and financing renewable energies in over 15 countries worldwide. We rely exclusively on voluntary climate payments from private individuals and businesses. Aiming to decarbonize the world economy, we designed our software tools and consulting services to assist businesses in executing their climate policies, with a particular focus on business travel. This full time position will be based in Kano, Nigeria. It shall be a permanent employment.

Your responsibilities

You will be responsible for the expansion of our Save80 cookstoves project in Nigeria and into neighboring countries:

  • All sales and commercial activities.
  • Grow Sales from 50K annually at the moment to 1 million per year by the end of 2025.
  • Develop Business models i.e., sales through banks and other Microfinance Institutions/Organizations
  • Develop an understanding of how to successfully address the overall market (last mile/missing link) and offer finance options for everyone interested.
  • Bring or develop strong ties and networks to intermediaries and cooperatives that buy stoves in bulk to resell in their market.
  • Develop sales through direct sales channels and establish sales teams per state in the chosen areas to increase our reach.
  • Grow, expand, and train the sales team in every chosen state to ensure proper market penetration.
  • Develop and strictly follow & implement a guided sales strategy to achieve growth and sales targets.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with established customers through close management of the accounts and attention to their needs.
  • Develop and execute sales and marketing of Save80 stoves for to the northern states and Nigerian market at large.
  • Understand and monitor inventory management systems in cooperation with the supply chain.
  • Have a close-knit work environment with supply chain management and accounting.
  • Hands on mentality in e.g. hiring local warehouses and business partners.
  • Acquire and maintain local sales partners and networks, and negotiate conditions and contracts as needed.
  • Organize cost efficient shipping and handling of the stoves and components
  • Act as the local contact for contractors, service providers, and local authorities, or put positions in place to deal with that.
  • Build and lead a team of sales managers.

As part of all these functions, you will report to the general manager of atmosfair climate & sustainability ltd. and the management of atmosfair gGmbH, based in Berlin, Germany.

Your Profile

  • A good university degree or a similar qualification, showing your business competence, added advantage degree in Marketing.
  • At least 5 yrs corporate B2B and B2C direct selling and sales management/relationship, management experience in related industries.
  • Practical experience in sales of products to low income target groups.
  • Demonstrable success in business development tasks.
  • Show a proven track record of work in the past with intermediaries and associations that multiply our reach and offer security.
  • Since the company is working in very close proximity with governmental leaders, the candidate needs to have worked in similar fields and feels comfortable talking and dealing with governmental institutions and their employees.
  • The ideal candidate should have prior international work experience abroad
  • Enjoys the art of selling and is willing to go hands-on when required.
  • Proven records of high-performance sales.
  • Ambitious and performance-driven personality.
  • Affinity to numbers and metrics of business.
  • Willingness to move to Kano and to work from Kano.
  • Motivation to act against climate change.
  • Business-fluent English knowledge. Language skills in other local languages (e.g. Yoruba, Hausa, Igbo, or Fulfulde) are of advantage
