The Nigerian Red Cross Society (NRCS) was established through an Act of Parliament in 1960. This Act depicts that the NRCS is recognized by the Federal Government of Nigeria as a community based Voluntary Aid Society, auxiliary to and complementing the public authorities in the area of humanitarian interventions. The NRCS was recognized by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in 1961 and admitted by the International Federation of the Red Cross Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) as the 86th National Society in 1961.

JOB PURPOSE
- The Driver will be responsible for transporting staff and ensuring official vehicles are in good and safe working condition.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Transport staff securely to areas where they are needed
- Ensure timely conveyance of staff and materials to and from places as instructed by supervisor or the manager
- Ensure that vehicles are always kept clean by washing both the inside and outside parts of the vehicle
- Carry out routine checks on vehicles and ensure they are in good working condition
- Recognize electrical and mechanical faults and report to the line manager or technician
- Report any instance of mishap or accident to the line manager
- Perform periodic maintenance on vehicles, such as changing batteries and motor oil at appropriate time, as well as fueling the car(s)
- Report any case of accident, injury or damage of vehicles to the supervisor or manager
- Keep all records, including receipts for vehicle maintenance
- Keep a travel log to record areas travelled to, travel time, and work hours
DUTIES APPLICABLE TO ALL STAFF
- Actively work towards the achievement of the NRCS goals
- Abide by and work in accordance with the Red Cross Fundamental Principles and NRCS Statutes
- Show capacity to assist other members of staff and management, aptitude for maintaining cooperation and team spirit necessary to achieve the objectives of the National Society
- Perform any other work-related duties and responsibilities that may be assigned by Line Manager
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum of Secondary School or Diploma Certificate
- Minimum of 5years’ experience in driving
