Achievements

Since inception, ALIMA has treated over 10 million patients and conducted medical operations in 12 African countries. In 2021, ALIMA led 60 humanitarian response projects across 357 health facilities, including 45 hospitals. Our work is reinforced by clinical and operational research focused on malnutrition and infectious diseases.

Governance and Structure

ALIMA is governed by a Board of Directors and collaborates with local NGOs and research institutions. Over 2,000 people work with ALIMA globally, supported by operational teams in Dakar, Paris, and New York.

Protection and Compliance

ALIMA upholds human rights and enforces a zero-tolerance policy on abuse, gender-based violence, and corruption. Staff and partners are expected to adhere to ALIMA’s code of conduct and report any violations.

ALIMA in Nigeria

ALIMA has been active in Nigeria since 2016, addressing health and nutrition emergencies with a focus on maternal, pediatric, and epidemic responses. ALIMA operates in:

Position Title: Finance Manager

Reporting Lines
Line Manager: Finance Coordinator
Technical Supervisor: HQ Accounting Manager
Line Management: Finance Supervisor, Project Admin Managers & Supervisors

Key Responsibilities

  • Mission Monthly Accountancy Closure
  • Ensure adherence to finance procedures
  • Review and validate all financial entries and budget allocations
  • Supervise monthly book closure and timely submission to Finance Coordinator
  • Reconcile cash/bank balances monthly
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounting documentation
  • File and archive original documents (digital and physical)
  • Upload shared costs and contract data into SAGA
  • Perform monthly updates from Odoo to SAGA and ensure reconciliation

Grant Management and Budget Monitoring

  • Prepare and share monthly Budget Follow-Up (BFU) and Shared Costs
  • Support budget holders in forecasting and line monitoring
  • Analyze over/underspending and inform Finance Coordinator
  • Ensure donor compliance and proper documentation archiving

Payroll and Tax Compliance

  • Ensure timely remittance of taxes (WHT, PAYE), pensions, and NSITF
  • Support monthly payroll preparation and salary transfer processes
  • Collaborate with HR on national staff budget allocation
  • File expat salary advances and maintain SAGA records

Internal Collaboration

  • Liaise with Finance, Logistics, and HR departments
  • Coordinate with field base teams and administrative units

External Liaison

  • Interact with banks, suppliers, tax offices, and financial service providers

Reporting

  • Prepare monthly financial reports and support the Finance Coordinator

Safeguarding and Protection

  • Promote awareness of ALIMA’s policies on abuse and protection
  • Organize training and ensure adherence to safeguarding standards

Qualifications and Experience

  • BSc in Accounting, Finance, or related field (MBA preferred)
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in Finance, Admin, HR, or Logistics
  • Strong organizational and planning skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure
