Malaria Consortium Nigeria is committed to tackling the large number of malaria cases and deaths in the country. Working in partnership with the Ministry of Health and other partners, we lead and support three major malaria control initiatives in the country: Support to the National Malaria Control Programme (SuNMaP); NetWorks and MAPS.

ITN Campaign Anambra State

Experience: 3-5 years’ experience

Duration: July- September- 2022
Malaria Consortium requires qualified personnel that will provide technical support to Malaria Consortium in the implementation of the 2022 ITN mass campaign distribution in Anambra state by providing technical assistance on supply chain management activities before and during the ITN campaign in the state.

Purpose/Scope of Assignment

The Supply Chain Technical Assistant (TA) who shall be situated in the Anambra state as part of the Logistic Management Coordinating Unit and shall work directly with the Anambra State Logistician, Malaria Consortium Commodity Manager and Senior Campaign Manager in ensuring good inventory management and supply chain management of all Insecticide Treated Nets which will be delivered and deployed for the campaign in Anambra state as well as making sure the right ITN gets to the intended user at the right time in the right quantity and quality.

The Supply Chain TA shall work closely with the State Logistician/LMCU Coordinator, the State Central Medical Store Officer in-charge, LGA Logisticians as well as other members of the State ITN campaign implementation team. He/she shall work collaboratively with the state logistician during the delivery of ITNs to the state ahead of the campaign, sorting and pick & pack of training and implementation materials.

Specific tasks

  • Oversee the delivery of ITNs to the state ahead of the campaign
  • Support the Commodity Manager and Senior Campaign Manager and in the management of ITNs   at the State Central Medical Stores (SCMS), LGA store and distribution hubs.
  • Provide technical support to the CMS staff during the ITN Campaign.
  • Conduct routine spot checks and stock count on ITNs and other campaign commodities at the CMS.
  • Participate in the spot checks on commodity management at the LGA stores and distribution hubs during the campaign activities
  • Support the Malaria Consortium’s Commodity Manager and Senior Campaign Manager in the receipt of ITNs and other commodities at the state central medical store in Anambra state.
  • Assist in monitoring delivery of ITNs and other commodities at the various levels and escalate any discrepancies in the quantity of commodities delivered and any quality issues.
  • Update the inventory tools of the ITNs and other commodities and report any discrepancies to the Country Commodity Manager or Senior Campaign Manager.
  • Supervise the Logistics Assistants during pick and pack of ITNs, implementation tools, visibility and PPE materials during macro and micro positioning.
  • Ensure all the signed delivery notes/waybills of commodities delivered to the distribution hubs and the LGAs are returned and archived.
  • Monitor 3PLs during the delivery of commodities and provide feedback to the Senior Campaign Manager and Commodity Manager.
  • Support in coordinating reverse logistics of ITNs and other commodities from distribution hubs and LGAs to the state central medical store at the end of the campaign.
  • Participate in ensuring timely availability of reports of commodities reversed at the end of the campaign.
  • Ensure damaged ITNs are separated from useable ones and clearly labelled during reverse Logistics

Key Deliverables

Qualifications and experience:

Essential

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy, Public Health, Social Sciences, Project Management or similar field.
  • Certification in supply chain or health commodity management is an added advantage.
  • At least 3 years proven experience in the management of health commodities, experience in management of ITN is an added advantage
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with other staff
  • A collaborative and flexible style, with a strong service mentality
  • Facilitation and coordination skills
  • Excellent Microsoft skills
