BACKGROUND
Child Protection and Peer Learning Initiative (CPPLI) is a human-centered social development not-for-profit, non-partisan, non-sectarian National Non-Governmental Organization (NNGO) that was established and registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in July, 2010 with the soul aim of ensuring that less privilege and vulnerable children (especially girls) and women as well as populations affected by humanitarian emergencies have access and attain a quality life and education through building sustainable partnership with government agencies, UN-agencies, private for-profit firms, communities, philanthropists, individuals and other stakeholders in obtaining mechanisms and resources to achieve its aim and focus. The organization thematically focuses on Protection, Health, Nutrition, Education and Governance. Being a national and local organization, CPPLI is geographically operating in the Northeast Nigeria with tremendous technical expertise of working in Borno, Adamawa and Yobe (BAY) states due to its well understanding of the cultural dynamics and change in context of the communities in the BAY states.

PURPOSE
The Child Protection Caseworker will conduct all steps of case management process on Unaccompanied and Separated Children and other children at risk of abuse, neglect, exploitation and violence including children who are formerly associated with armed forces and/or armed groups as well as children with disabilities. Case management services most meet the IASC guidelines and is in line with the Child Protection Minimum Standard (CPMS).
Major Responsibilities
In collaboration with other colleagues of the NHF funded Child Protection project in CPPLI, the caseworker will be responsible for the following:
- Provide individual comprehensive case management for children in relation to all case management steps, tools and procedures.
- Liaise with community volunteers for purposes of follow-up as part of case management to individual child.
- Use the CPISM+ and the IASC revised case management toolkits in documentation of children information.
- Provide support for families, foster and alternative care arrangements.
- Support Family Tracing and Reunification for Unaccompanied Children.
- Ensure regular communication with the Child Protection Officer, M&E officer and CPIMS Assistant for updates on achievements and challenges.
- Effectively communicate with other caseworkers, government social workers and other service providers for inter-sectoral referral services.
- Regularly attend case management meetings at field level and bi-weekly case management review meetings at the office.
- Ensure that child-centered approach guiding principles is maintained and enforced while working with vulnerable children including Child Friendly Space for boys and girls.
- Work closely with the communities to develop weekly risk assessment of field activities and share with the child protection officer.
- Contribute within the CFS to the identification of at-risk girls and boys, and ensure proper documentation.
- Ensure Do No Harm is observed and upheld in all the engagement of the caseworker.
- Organize regular case conference to address challenging cases and ensure survivors receive quality services and with dignity.
- Adhere to safeguarding measures in all engagement with children, young adults and the community members.
- Ensure at all times the safety, dignity and confidentiality of the child and his/her information.
- Submit weekly and monthly activities reports to the supervisor.
- Carryout any other activity as may be assigned by the supervisor.
TECHNICAL EXPERTISE AND SKILLS
- Minimum of a University Degree, HND, ND, OND or NCE in related field.
- Excellent ability in computer skills and MS Office.
- Minimum of 1-year experience in a similar role.
- Having strong understanding of child protection in emergency (CPiE) programming.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Excellent English language writing and speaking skills.
- Fluency in Hausa is mandatory.
- Fluency or ability to communicate in the native language of Michika, Madagali and Askira Uba is an added advantage.
