Job Title: Finance Officer

Job Description
- We are excited to be searching for a proactive and result-oriented Finance Officer with an interest in Value Chain sustainability to join our team, and we hope it’s you!
Your Role
- As a Finance officer, you’re the backbone of our country office operations – ensuring financial integrity, driving efficient program delivery, and keeping everything running smoothly behind the scenes.
- From budgets to compliance, you’ll play a key role in supporting both the strategic and day-to-day financial and administrative functions that help our work make real impact on the ground.
- The position is based in Lagos, Nigeria with regular travels to project sites spread across Nigeria.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and analyse financial statements (P&L and Balance Sheet)
- Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting to management and stakeholders
- Monitor Financial performance against budgets and forecasts
- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts
- Monitor Expenditure and ensure compliance
- Reconciled accounts to ensure accurate financial records
- Manage cash flows to ensure liquidity for operational needs
- Implement and maintain strong financial controls to prevent fraud/errors
- Ensure compliance with donors and regulatory financial requirements
- Implement financial policies and procedures
- Manage and coordinate the accounts payable process, ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices and payments.
- Manage annual audit cycles and ensure the timely delivery of audit reports to donors.
- Manage day-to-day financial operations and ensure sound financial management in the country office
Requirements
What you bring:
- Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent work experience) in Finance, Accounting, Business Economics, or a related field.
- 2–5 years of experience in finance and accounting in an international organization
- Professional certification in finance or proven work experience.
- Experience with financial management, Analysis, and reporting in international organizations.
- Strong ability to interpret financial data and provide insights.
- Experience using accounting software (e.g., SpendCloud, Exact).
- Understand tax laws (PAYE, VAT, WHT) and financial regulations.
- Ability to develop, monitor, and analyse budgets.
- Strong knowledge of financial statements, reconciliations, and reporting standards (IFRS, GAAP).
- Full professional proficiency in English; proficiency in another widely spoken language is an asset.
- Strong Excel skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
