Wash Specialist At African Humanitarian Aid International

General Objective

Job Summary
AHAI is seeking a WASH Specialist to design, implement, and monitor WASH programs, ensuring quality and impact.

AHAI is a non-Governmental, Non-Profit, Making Organization. non-political and non- religious international aid organization. African Humanitarian Aid International (AHAI) has been operating in Nigeria since 2017, with operational offices in Adamawa and Borno, including sub-offices in the field ¹.

Key Responsibilities- Program Design:
Develop WASH project proposals, budgets, and workplans.

  • Implementation: Oversee WASH interventions, including water supply, sanitation, and hygiene promotion.

Act as focal point to WASH issues and liaise with relevant actors in different stages of WASH

Facilitate participatory and community-based approaches. · Guide and supervise technical and support staff, and ensure that training needs are met.

  • Monitoring and Evaluation: Track project progress, conduct assessments, and report on outcomes.
  • Capacity Building: Train and support community members, partners, and staff on WASH best practices.
  • Coordination: Collaborate with stakeholders, government agencies, and NGOs on WASH initiatives.
  • WASH Assessments: Conduct needs assessments, baseline studies, and situation analyses.
  • Water Quality Monitoring: Test and monitor water quality, ensuring compliance with standards.
  • Sanitation and Hygiene Promotion: Design and implement hygiene promotion campaigns.
  • Community Engagement: Engage with communities, leaders, and stakeholders on WASH issues.
  • Partnership Management: Collaborate with NGOs, government agencies, and private sector partners.
  • Reporting and Documentation: Prepare technical reports, case studies, and donor reports.
  • Innovation and Learning: Research and propose innovative WASH solutions and technologies.

Requirements-
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health, Public Health, Engineering, or related field

  • 3-5 years of WASH experience in humanitarian or development contexts
  • Strong technical knowledge of WASH principles and practices
  • Excellent communication, project management, and analytical skills

Desired Skills- WASH certification (e.g., WASH HAP, Sphere)
