Hours: Flexible, approximately 10 hours per week
Reporting to: Social Media Team Leader

The Role

  • We are looking for a creative Volunteer Scriptwriter based in Nigeria to join our social media team and help communicate IIR’s work through clear, engaging and impactful digital content.
  • As our Volunteer Scriptwriter, you will be responsible for developing scripts for IIR’s social media videos, campaigns and other digital content.
  • You will work closely with our Social Media Content Strategist, Proofreader and Video & Publishing Officer, under the direction of the Social Media Team Leader, to take content from initial idea through to publication.

Key Responsibilities

  • Write engaging scripts for short-form videos, Reels and other social media content.
  • Turn project updates, legal information and campaign ideas into clear and accessible scripts.
  • Adapt writing style and tone for different platforms and audiences.
  • Develop strong hooks, calls to action and messaging for digital campaigns.
  • Work from content briefs and campaign plans developed by the social media team.
  • Incorporate feedback from the Proofreader and Social Media Team Leader.
  • Work collaboratively with other members of the social media team to ensure content is consistent with IIR’s objectives and organisational voice.

You should have

  • Interested candidates should possess a Bachelor`s Degree with 1 year experience.
  • Strong written English and creative writing skills.
  • An ability to communicate ideas clearly and concisely.
  • An understanding of writing for social media and digital audiences.
  • Creativity and an ability to develop engaging concepts.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and meet agreed deadlines.
  • An interest in social justice, access to justice or nonprofit work.
