TERMS OF REFERENCE FOR CONSULTANT ENGEGAMENT OF INCOME GENERATION ACTIVITIES TRAINING
Background
C3HD aims to engage a consultant to conduct training on income generation activities (IGA) and financial literacy for adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) aged 14 to 24, including community mobilizers (CMs) with the knowledge, skills, and tools they need to develop sustainable and profitable businesses. The IGA training will cover training on different trade skills including Tailoring, Cap Knitting and Pasta Making. Also, the financial literacy training will cover different topics such as financial literacy, business planning the training will serve as a guide for adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) on how to manage their businesses and incomes, regardless of the type of business they choose to pursue.
Objectives:
The overall objective of the training is to empower adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) and community members (CMs) with the knowledge and skills they need to become financially independent and successful entrepreneurs.
- To train AGYW on different trade skills of their choice including but not limited to Tailoring, Cap Knitting and Pasta Making.
- To train AGYW and enable them to gain a better understanding of financial management, budgeting, and planning, enabling them to make more informed decisions about their financial futures.
- To support AGYW to develop the skills and knowledge needed to start and run successful businesses, including market research, product development, and marketing.
- To raise awareness about the importance of financial literacy and entrepreneurship in the community, leading to greater support and investment in these areas.
Methodology:
C3HD will work with the consultant to design the training curriculum, ensuring it is tailored to the needs and learning styles of the participants. The consultant will deliver the training over a period of 3 months for IGA and 4 days financial literacy training, using a variety of methods such as lectures, group discussions, case studies, and practical hands-on exercises, preferably, C3HD will wat the consultant to work with State owned BEST Centers to deliver the raining. C3HD will work with BEST centers to monitor and evaluate the progress of the participants throughout the training, providing feedback and support as needed and also provide ongoing support and mentorship to the participants after the training, helping them to apply their new skills and knowledge in the real world, the consultant will purchase all learning and teaching materials needed, and also prepare and submit reports on the training, including participant feedback and recommendations for future training programs, to support the ongoing development and improvement of the program.
Expected Outcome:
- The participants will have the skills and knowledge needed to start and run successful businesses, including trade skills, market research, product development, and marketing.
- The participants will have a better understanding of financial management and budgeting, enabling them to make more informed decisions about their financial futures.
- The Participants will have increased self-confidence and self-efficacy, enabling them to take charge of their own lives and futures and become agents of change in their communities.
Time frame:
The IGA Training will be held for 3 months and 4 days for the financial literacy with AGYW in Damaturu and Potiskum LGA of Yobe State.
Responsibilities:
Consultant: The consultant/consultancy firm will be the host and training convener, and will be responsible for providing logistical support, feeding, training hall for all training activities.
The Consultant is also responsible of the following:
- To Develop the training curriculum based on the needs and knowledge gaps of the participants.
- Facilitating the training sessions using various techniques, such as lectures, discussions, case studies, and question and answer sessions, to ensure maximum engagement and understanding of the content.
- Providing guidance and support to participants throughout the training, helping them to apply their knowledge and skills in their work.
C3HD:
- C3HD will conduct monitoring and perform participants assessment to know the levl of knowledge and skills again as a result of the training
- C3HD will pay all fees to the consultant including the Consultancy fee, training cost, staffing and other related cost.
C3HD will print certificate of completion for all graduating participants
The following payments will be made to the consultant using and agreed mode of payment
Upon approval of inception report: [70%]
Upon submission of Mid Term Report: [20%]
Upon approval of final completion of training report: [10%]
Education and Skills
An ideal consultant or Lead consultant of the consultancy firm should possess the following:
- Advance Degree in Social Works, Public Health, Entrepreneurship or related field or.
- Bachelor’s Degree in relevant discipline with 5 years working experience or
- Preferably Living in Yobe and speaks the local language
- Good Written & Verbal Communication & Interpersonal Skill Level
- You have good interpersonal skills and ability to work with teams
- Respected by local people and leaders and known to be conscientious.

- Language Requirements – speaking local languages – English and Hausa
