Job description

The purpose of this job role is to lead a team of three project workers who will be working with you to develop and write training materials for our online training project. The project aims to equip educators in Nigeria with the necessary skills to identify and prevent mental health challenges in Nigerian schools, while also delivering targeted interventions to enhance the quality of service they provide and improve the life outcomes of young Nigerian students.

This project currently comprises a total of 36 topics, which will be shared among three project workers and delivered incrementally over a period of three months. 

The topic broadly encompasses mental health, safeguarding, violence prevention, health and safety, gender and equality, and some basic interventions, from which project workers will be allowed to choose based on their interests and capacity and must be research-informed and evidence-based. AI writing will not be accepted. 

You will be responsible for supervising and directing the team, making sure that day-to-day activities are completed as agreed upon, and maintaining quality at every stage of the project. You will report directly to the Programme Manager, who will serve as your line manager.

Duration: Three months (could be extended on a rolling basis).

Pay: N120,000 per Month

Location: Remotely, but could arrange a catch-up with the rest of the team if available in the exact location. 

Person specification

  • Preferably have a background in child and adolescent mental health, public health (especially health promotion), or education. 
  • Must have knowledge of issues that affect young Nigerians. 
  • Must have excellent research and creative writing skills, and pay attention to details.
  • Must have access to their computer and be able to work remotely and effectively use Google Workspace.
  • Must have a good understanding of project management and be able to translate and align day-to-day operations to meet project objectives.
  • Must be a good communicator and responsive, able to lead yet collaborate with the rest of the team, work independently using their initiative, follow management\’s instructions, and adhere to the project plan.
  • Must be able to foresee situation changes, escalate appropriately, and suggest feasible solutions.
  • Must be able to deliver high-quality jobs while meeting agreed deadlines.
  • Must be able to produce reports and have presentation skills.
  • Must be highly motivated, be able to motivate others, be reliable, have a good remote work ethic, and be able to work with little supervision.
