Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) – Holland in Nigeria Limited by Guarantee is an international, independent, non-profit medical humanitarian organisation. MSF provides assistance to people affected by armed conflict, natural or man-made disasters, and other situations of crisis, without discrimination based on race, religion, beliefs, or political affiliation.

MSF has been working in Nigeria since February 1996, in collaboration with national and local authorities, under a Memorandum of Understanding with the Federal Government of Nigeria.

MAIL PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

Organise and supervise daily supply chain activities and associated teams at coordination and project level, in accordance with MSF protocols and standards, to ensure efficient, timely, and reliable supply chain operations supporting the mission’s activities.

 

MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Supervise and organise the daily activities of the supply chain team, including Purchasers and Supply Supervisors, ensuring tasks are performed according to roles and responsibilities.
  • Be responsible for order management, purchasing, stock control, and freight management at coordination and project level, ensuring efficiency and compliance with MSF supply procedures.
  • Monitor and ensure proper implementation of supply administration procedures, proposing improvements where necessary.
  • Manage and maintain the supply database and ensure accurate filing and archiving of supply documentation.
  • Act as focal point for order management, keeping requestors informed of order status and prioritising procurement and transport based on operational needs.
  • Collect and analyse claims from the field and propose corrective actions.
  • Produce regular supply reports and inform the Logistics / Supply Manager of major issues to support decision‑
  • Supervise and coordinate supply chain activities in coordination and projects, ensuring alignment with standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Conduct quarterly field visits to project locations to verify data accuracy, assess compliance with supply SOPs, and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Serve as backup to other Supply Chain Officers during periods of leave and provide mutual support during peak workload periods.
  • Act as focal point for international orders, overseeing the process from purchase order preparation through to completion.
  • Follow up on UniField data cleaning and produce monthly stock reports and dashboards, sharing analysis with the Supply Chain Manager and Supply Coordinator.
  • Monitor warehouse activities to ensure physical and administrative stock management procedures are correctly applied.
  • Coordinate with Transport and Customs Supervisors to plan and organise local transport to project locations.
  • Conduct annual supplier performance evaluations for critical local suppliers and share findings with the Mission Supply Chain Manager.

 

REQUIREMENTS (QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE / KNOWLEDGE)
Education Essential: Bachelor’s degree with specialization in Logistics or Supply Chain Management
Experience Essential:

•        Minimum of 2 years’ experience in supply chain management, including organisation of supply administration and procedures Desirable

•        Proven understanding of MSF field logistics, including general knowledge of MSF equipment and kits

Languages Essential:

•   English (professional working level) Desirable:

•   Local languages

Knowledge Essential:

•    Computer literacy (Word, Excel, Internet)
