Job Title: Senior Programme Finance Specialist

About the Role

  • The Senior Finance Specialist will be responsible for overseeing the financial management, compliance, and reporting for a USAID project.
  • This role involves leading the finance team, ensuring adherence to USAID financial guidelines, and providing strategic financial insights to support project objectives.
  • The Senior Finance Specialist will ensure that all financial practices comply with USAID requirements.
  • The role holder plays a pivotal role within the team, providing strategic financial leadership and oversight to the Christian Aid programs, projects, and partners.
  • This position requires strong organizational skills and the ability to liaise effectively with program managers, finance staff, and external stakeholders.
  • The role holder will report to the Head of Finance and have line management responsibility to two other finance team members. With support from the Head of Finance, S/He will lead in the review and monitoring of project budgets, ensuring that Partner Capacity Risk assessments are conducted and that clear capacity development plans are developed and followed through to reduce the risks of mismanagement or misuse of funds.

Requirements
About you:

  • You must have a Degree in Finance / Accounting Degree (or equivalent) and MUST be a Chartered Accountant. (ICAN, ACCA).
  • A master’s degree is an added advantage, with a minimum of 7 – 10 years of progressive financial management experience and at least 3 years in a senior finance role on USAID projects, strong knowledge of grant management for institutional donors with considerable experience managing USAID projects, good track record working with local partner organizations supporting them to build systems and structures to enable them to meet donor requirements.
  • The role holder should have strong knowledge of financial principles, budgeting, and financial reporting standards (GAAP, IFRS), strong communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders, strong knowledge, understanding and its applicability of relevant tax laws in Nigeria, experience of using computerized financial reporting tools such as SUN & QA Executive and ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
