The Inclusion Advisory Group (IAG) is an initiative of CBM Global Disability Inclusion. The Senior Advisor and consultants identified to work alongside our teams will be employed/contracted by the most relevant part of CBM Global.
What we do
IAG is a team of international development professionals, working alongside the disability movement to ensure that development and humanitarian programs include people with disabilities. Our goal is to influence the programs of other agencies to be more inclusive of people with disabilities. Find out more about our work and our approach our IAG website.
We partner with the disability movement to influence organisations, institutions and systems to realise the rights of persons with disabilities. We believe that tailored input, communicated effectively, with the right people at the table can help make inclusion a reality.
Our work is fast-paced, diverse and growing. As a member of our global team, you could be involved in working with global advisory clients, working alongside local advisory teams to support their work, or helping build the networks, capacity and systems that enable our work. You could be for example, developing partnerships, doing data analysis, writing reports, inputting into policies and programs from global to community level, or working with organisations on their strategies and plans around disability inclusion (sometimes, all in the same week!).
As a consultant, you could be asked to join in any part of the above work, often on specific advisory contracts. You would have a chance to work as part of teams for discrete projects, sometimes offering opportunities on larger and more complex pieces of work than it’s so possible to take individually.
Who we’re looking for
Our IAG staff and associates and wider CBM Global colleagues are passionate group with all sorts of backgrounds, from health, development, humanitarians, former diplomats, social workers, lawyers, etc. We want to work with colleagues who believe their experience and interest aligns with and can help inform our vision and approach.
If you are interested to register your interest to work alongside us as part of a pool of consultants, we are particularly interested in hearing at present from those who have:
· Lived experience of disability
· Exceptional analytical and written and expressive communication skills
· A commitment to human rights and inclusion
· A background in international development and/or humanitarian experience
· Experience in disability inclusion, or the inclusion of other marginalised groups
· Demonstrated expertise in one or more of the following: capacity development, policy analysis, program development, organisation change, strategy development, human rights and/or research and evidence;
· Skills and experiencing including:
o Experience in multilateral organisations
o Gender equality and social inclusion
o Disaster risk reduction and/or humanitarian experience
o Inclusive economic development and social protection policy or programming
o Inclusive data and budgeting.
o Inclusive education
o Inclusive livelihood
We are ideally looking for a candidate who can work easily around a Central European Time zone to meet some growing opportunities and demand in Europe, therefore we welcome applications from those who have the right to work and live in UK, Ireland, Netherlands, Belgium or Germany, Nigeria, Kenya, Burkina Faso and Madagascar. Working from home within these countries is welcomed. We do not offer an expatriate contract for this role.
