Global Village Healthcare Initiative for Africa (GHIV Africa) is a Non-governmental, Non-for profit humanitarian/Developmental organization which started in 2014. We deliver assistance and protection to affected populations before, during and after crisis situations.

GHIV Africa was founded to mitigate the health deficit in Africa and to provide all forms of assistance leading to improved quality of life. The organization is equally poised to support the delivery of healthcare services at the doorsteps of every African village by bridging the gap between primary health care delivery and tertiary health care services through a robust referral system..

We provide aid to the most vulnerable population regardless of their religion, race, gender and or political affiliation. Our decisions as an organization are not based on political, economic or religious interest but solely on needs of the affected population.

Background

GHIV Africa since moving to Northeast Nigeria in 2019 has been implementing humanitarian and developmental interventions in Health, Education, WASH, Livelihoods and Protection. These interventions have directly targeted over 6000 vulnerable children, women, girls and boys as well as people with disabilities. 

Determined to expand her interventions to reach more vulnerable groups in the conflict area, GHIV Africa will be implementing in Borno state in partnership with UN OCHA with funding from the Nigerian Humanitarian Funds (NHF) first standard allocation.

To successfully implement this projects, GHIV Africa is looking for a suitable candidate for the position of Security Guard in her Maiduguri office for a one year during of the projects.

The incumbent will be in charge of ensuring safety of GHIV Africa staff, volunteers, visitors, donors, vendors, contractors, premises, and equipment within our premises, the Security Guard will station and work in our Maiduguri office(s); he/she will be reporting directly to the Admin./ Logistics Officer.

Job summary:

  • The post holder will support in provision of security and intelligence for lives and properties that belongs to GHIV Africa within and around the premises.
  • The post holder will be under the supervision of the Admin/Logistics Officer; the Security Guard will be responsible for the following key roles:  

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide regular surveillance within and around office spaces
  • Open and close the gate for staff and visitors coming in or going out
  • Present time attendance booklet for staff and visitors during entries and exits
  • Keep record of items, goods and equipment taken in and out of the office
  • Check and close access doors after closing hours
  • Report every cases of insecurity during and after work hours.
  • Controls the parking of vehicles around the offices

Technical expertise, Skills, Knowledge, and competencies:

  • Qualification: SSCE is the minimum requirement
  • Minimum of 1 years’ related work experience preferably with an NGO
  • Have knowledge and skill in safety and security
  • Can speak, read, and write in English
  • Have basic knowledge in the use of computer
  • Be flexible and easy to approach
  • Knowledge of local languages is added advantage
  • Must be a team player
