Terms and conditions: The appointment will be for a 1 Year period, renewable based on funding and performance.

Position Summary

The Security/Cleaner is responsible for securing all internal and external CYW properties and cleaning across board based on needs of CYW. The Security/Cleaner will also support Driver, Procurement and Logistics Assistant;

  • Ensuring that the right supplies and services procured and delivered are safe.

Reporting and Supervision:

  • Reports to: Driver/Procurement/Logistics Assistant

Job Responsibilities

  • Ensure spaces are prepared for the next day by taking out trash, tidying furniture and dusting surfaces
    Sweep and mop floors
    Wash and sanitize toilets, sinks and showers and restock disposables (e.g. soap)
  • Wipe mirrors and windows.
  • Maintain outer premises by watering plants, mowing lawn, cleaning entrances
  • Responsible for monitoring and controlling staff entrances, patrolling on a regular basis, and managing undesirable behavior to deliver a safe Guest and Member experience.
  • Investigate theft and support evacuation procedures. Specifically, you will be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:
  • Monitor and control staff entrances
  • Conduct regular searches of bags, etc. carried by members of staff and report discrepancies or violations immediately
  • Control the Goods pass out procedure for any items purchased, loaned, or otherwise legitimately obtained
  • Maintain system that monitors contractors working in the hotel in accordance with company health and safety policies
  • Responsible for checking goods received out of hours
  • Maintain system that records the issue and receipt of departmental keys.

Job Requirements

Minimum of O’Level certificate
• Proven experience as cleaner, janitor or in a similar role
• Knowledge of use and maintenance of industrial cleaning equipment and appliances
• Very good physical condition and strength

Experience and Skills:

  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience working in cleaning and security, preferably in an private/and/or development program, with in depth experience in managing security processes
  • Strong knowledge and experience of cleaning processes
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills including influencing, negotiation and coaching.
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to juggle multiple tasks with competing priorities and simultaneously stick to deadlines, whilst maintaining relationships with suppliers and customers
  • Excellent reporting skills, particularly the ability to quickly develop clear and concise information
  • Willingness to undertake field travel as required and work in difficult environments according to travel environments.
  • Excellent communication skills; fluency in spoken English;
  • Commitment to and understanding MI aims, values and principles
