Care Best Initiative (CBI) is a government-registered, woman-led, and youth-driven national Non-Governmental Organization (NNGO) founded in 2019. Our mission is to save lives, alleviate suffering, and maintain human dignity for vulnerable groups, including children, adolescents, women, and People with Disabilities (PWD), during and after crises. We operate in Northeast (Borno, Adamawa, Yobe, Bauchi) and Northwest (Zamfara, Sokoto, Kebbi) Nigeria, implementing donor and self-funded projects in Health, Education, Nutrition, Protection, WASH, and Food Security & Livelihood. CBI uses a multi-sectoral, community-inclusive approach, partnering with government ministries, local and international organizations, and engaging in advocacy and capacity-building to promote resilience and equitable development.
Purpose of Role:
The Report Writer will produce high-quality reports, case studies, and success stories to support CBI’s documentation, learning, and communication efforts. The role ensures accurate, timely reporting aligned with donor requirements and showcases CBI’s humanitarian and development impact, bridging program implementation, Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E), and external communication.
Job Description/Principal Accountabilities:
- Prepare and edit donor reports (monthly, quarterly, annual) with MEAL and Program teams, adhering to donor and organizational standards.
- Develop ethically sound success stories, human-interest pieces, and case studies from field activities.
- Collect, verify, and analyze data and beneficiary feedback for reports and learning materials.
- Produce situation reports, project updates, and visibility materials as needed.
- Support proposal development with writing, formatting, and research.
- Maintain a digital archive for reports, photos, and communication materials.
- Edit and proofread project team documents for accuracy, grammar, and consistency.
- Participate in field visits and program meetings to gain contextual knowledge.
- Develop capacity-building materials or editorial guidance for field staff.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the MEAL Coordinator or Program Manager.
Job Holder Entry Requirements:
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, English, Journalism, Development Studies, Social Sciences, or related field.
- 2-3 years of experience in report writing or communications in development/humanitarian settings.
- Proven experience writing donor reports for national/international organizations.
- Strong understanding of M&E concepts, indicators, and reporting tools.
- Sector experience in Health, Nutrition, GBV, SRH, Protection, Child Protection, or WASH.
- Experience gathering and writing success stories and case studies from beneficiaries.
- Familiarity with donor reporting and indicator-based reporting in fragile contexts like Northeast Nigeria.
- Experience with international NGOs, UN agencies, or institutional donors.
- Ability to coordinate report inputs across cross-functional teams and field locations.
