Background
Mercy Eleos Frontida Foundation (MEFF) is implementing the Nigeria Learning Passport (NLP) Programme in Borno State to support access to quality, inclusive, and digital learning for children and youth affected by conflict and displacement. The programme aims to improve learning outcomes through digital and blended learning approaches.
MEFF is seeking qualified and committed Facilitators to support the effective implementation of the Nigeria Learning Passport at community and learning centers.
Job summary
The Project Officer (Education) will support the planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting of education projects. The role focuses on improving access to quality education, strengthening learning outcomes, and ensuring effective coordination with stakeholders, communities, and partners.
Key Responsibility
- Project Implementation
- Support the implementation of education projects in line with approved work plans and donor requirements.
- Coordinate field activities such as school support, teacher training, and learning sessions.
- Ensure timely delivery of project activities and outputs.
- Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting
- Collect, verify, and compile project data and indicators.
- Conduct regular field monitoring visits to project sites.
- Prepare weekly, monthly, and quarterly activity reports.
- Support assessments, baseline, and endline surveys.
- Stakeholder Coordination
- Liaise with education authorities, school management, and community leaders.
- Participate in coordination meetings with government and partners.
- Strengthen community engagement in education activities.
- Capacity Building
- Support training of teachers, facilitators, and community volunteers.
- Provide technical support on teaching and learning methodologies.
- Promote child-friendly and inclusive learning practices.
- Administration and Compliance
- Maintain proper project documentation and filing systems.
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies and donor guidelines.
- Support procurement and logistics for education activities.
- Protection and Safeguarding
- Ensure child safeguarding and protection principles are upheld.
- Report any safeguarding concerns in line with organizational procedures.
- Promote safe learning environments.
- Other Duties
- Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Qualification and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Sciences, Development Studies, or related field.
- Minimum of 2–3 years’ experience in education or humanitarian/development projects.
- Experience working with NGOs/INGOs is an added advantage.
- Knowledge of Education in Emergencies (EiE) is desirable.
- Experience working in field locations, especially in humanitarian settings.

- Good computer skills (MS Word, Excel, email, data tools).
