Project Management and leadership Development Trainer

Expected Start of Assignment: The trainer is expected to begin the assignment on the 1st of May 2025

  1. Background
    ActionAid Arab Region (AAAR) is seeking a qualified Project Management and Leadership Development Trainer to design and deliver training programs for our staff. The training will focus on enhancing their project management skills, leadership capabilities, and overall efficiency in managing complex projects, teams, and resources. The trainer will be responsible for delivering high-quality, interactive, and impactful learning experiences that contribute to the professional growth of the staff.
  2. Objective of the Assignment
    The primary objective of this assignment is to strengthen the project management and leadership skills of AAAR staff, enabling them to effectively manage projects and lead teams within the organization’s operations.

3. Scope of Work
The trainer will undertake the following tasks:

  • Training Needs Assessment: Conduct surveys with staff to identify skill gaps in project management and leadership. This will involve analyzing current practices and challenges faced by AAAR staff in managing projects and leading teams to tailor the training program to the specific needs of the participants.
  • Curriculum Development: Develop a curriculum that covers both project management and leadership development principles, methodologies, and tools, while considering the practical application of these concepts in the context of the organization’s work.
  • Training Delivery: Facilitate engaging and interactive training sessions on:

Project planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation: Covering the project lifecycle phases with practical examples and tools.

Leadership styles, team dynamics, and conflict resolution: Including role-playing exercises and case studies to understand team dynamics.

Effective communication, decision-making, and problem-solving: Focusing on frameworks for decision-making and collaborative problem-solving.

Resource management, risk management, and budget control: Exploring risk assessment techniques and budgeting tools with real-world scenarios.

Leadership strategies for managing change, motivation, and team performance: Discussing change management models and motivational strategies.

  • Participant Engagement: Ensure active participant engagement during training sessions using case studies, role plays, discussions, and hands-on activities to apply theoretical concepts to real-world scenarios.
  • Assessment and Feedback: Administer pre- and post-training assessments to measure participants’ learning outcomes and gather feedback to improve future training sessions.
  • Reporting: Provide a final report summarizing the training activities, participant progress, and key recommendations for further development.

4. Deliverables

Comprehensive Training Curriculum and Materials: Include detailed lesson plans, presentation slides, and participant handouts.

Detailed Training Schedule and Plan: Outline the exact timing and structure of each session.

Delivery of Training Sessions: Conduct the agreed-upon number of sessions over a period of 8 days.

Post-training Assessments and Evaluations: Include both quantitative and qualitative feedback from participants.

Final Report: Summarize outcomes, feedback, and recommendations for future improvements.

  • 5. Duration

The training program will be conducted over a period of 8 days, with the exact schedule and duration subject to the trainer’s availability and other logistical considerations. The assessment and preparation phase, including any pre-training assessments and curriculum development, are not included in this duration. The final schedule will be agreed upon in advance.

6. Required Qualifications and Experience
The ideal candidate will have:

Proven Experience: In designing and delivering project management and leadership training.

Familiarity with Frameworks: Knowledge of internationally recognized project management frameworks (e.g., PMI, PRINCE2, Agile).

Leadership Development Knowledge: Strong understanding of leadership development theories and best practices.

NGO Experience: Experience working with NGOs and International NGOs.

Facilitation Skills: Excellent facilitation, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

Certifications: Advanced certification in Project Management and/or Leadership Development is preferred.

Language Skills: Proficiency in Arabic is an asset to facilitate communication with participants.

7. Evaluation and Reporting
The trainer’s performance will be evaluated based on the following criteria:

  • Quality and relevance of the training materials.
  • Participant engagement and learning outcomes.
  • Feedback from participants and stakeholders.
  • Completion of deliverables within the agreed timeline.

8. Reporting Line
The trainer will report to the Program Manager and will work closely with the Project officer to coordinate training sessions.

9 Payment and Terms
The trainer will be compensated as per the agreed-upon rate and payment terms. Payment will be made upon completion of specific milestones, such as the delivery of training sessions and submission of the final report.
