Role Summary

  • The Project Coordinator will lead AYGF’s day-to-day implementation of outreach, enrolment, and retention activities within a defined set of Lagos Local Government Areas (LGAs), as part of AYGF’s out-of-school children programming.
  • The role provides direct supervision to field-based Community Officers, Learning Officers, and Case Management Officers, ensuring activities are delivered on time, on budget, and in line with the Transition Model.
  • The Project Coordinator also serves as AYGF’s frontline representative in cross-consortium coordination with partner organisations, including Street Child, Slum2School, and Teach for Nigeria.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate AYGF’s day-to-day delivery of outreach, enrolment, and retention activities within assigned Lagos LGAs.
  • Supervise AYGF field teams, including Community Officers, Learning Officers, and Case Management Officers, providing direction, support, and performance oversight.
  • Track progress against project milestones and targets, identifying and resolving operational bottlenecks in a timely manner.
  • Represent AYGF in cross-consortium coordination meetings and joint activities with Street Child, Slum2School, and Teach for Nigeria.
  • Ensure implementation fidelity to the Transition Model across all assigned LGAs, while identifying and recommending adaptations where needed to improve outcomes.
  • Conduct regular field visits and spot checks to monitor quality of outreach, enrolment, and retention activities.
  • Compile and submit periodic progress, activity, and monitoring reports to the  Project Manager.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, and capacity building of field officers.
  • Maintain accurate beneficiary and activity data in line with AYGF’s monitoring, evaluation, and reporting systems.
  • Escalate safeguarding, case management, or child protection concerns in line with AYGF policy.
  • Manage relationships with community stakeholders, including traditional and religious leaders, LGA education officials, and school administrators.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Social Sciences, Development Studies, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience coordinating community-based education, child protection, or social development programmes, preferably with out-of-school children.
  • Prior experience working with an NGO or non-profit organisation is required.
  • Prior experience supervising field teams and managing multi-stakeholder relationships.
  • Experience working within a consortium or multi-partner programme is an advantage.
  • Strong working knowledge of Lagos State’s education and social service landscape, including relevant LGAs.
