Project HOPE Nigeria (otherwise referred to People-to-People Health Foundation Nigeria) is a registered non-profit, non-governmental organization working in Nigeria in areas of HIV & AIDS, Tuberculosis, OVC, RMNCAH & Malaria intervention services.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Program Officer

Locations: Kano and Ogun

Job Description

  • Under the supervision of the Program Manager, the Program Officer will support the Nigeria Hypertension Control Initiative deploymentto address the critical gaps in hypertension control in Nigeria.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the implementation of the 2-year RESOLVE NHCI project which includes strengthening of hypertension management at primary healthcare level in selected states
  • Provide technical support for the development of guidelines to promote the use of community-based approaches, affordable strategies, and technologies for the delivery of quality care services including primary, secondary, and tertiary prevention.
  • Forge partnerships and networks to enhance multi-disciplinary and multi-sectoral collaborations to address NCDs (hypertension) and their risk factors in the state.
  • Support data collection, research, and information dissemination and use for policy and program development, advocacy, and awareness-raising on NCDs (hypertension) and their risk factors.
  • Support the Program Manager in the implementation of priority activities on NCDs at the state level.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Educational Requirements

  • A Master’s Degree or higher in Public Health, Social Sciences, or other relevant discipline.

Professional Experience / Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years working on NCD projects or related programs.
  • Experience supporting the implementation of donor-funded health projects.
  • Knowledge of NDC programs in Kano and Ogun state preferred.

  • Actively promote PSEA (Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse) standards within Project HOPE and among beneficiaries served by Project HOPE.

  • Promote and encourage a culture of compliance and ethics throughout Project HOPE.
  • As applicable to the position, maintain a clear understanding of Project HOPE and donor compliance and ethics standards and adhere to those standards.
  • Conduct work with the highest level of integrity.

  • Strong writing and presentation skills
  • Proven capabilities in leadership
  • Strong negotiation, interpersonal, and organization skills
  • Ability to read, write, analyze, and interpret technical and non-technical materials in English
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond appropriately to questions from senior managers in the field and HQ, counterparts, senior government, and other related regional players

Physical Demand and Work Environment:

  • In addition to the responsibilities referenced above, candidates can expect to be living and working in austere conditions. Lifting moderately heavy objects from the ground, carrying a backpack for extended periods of time, and walking or hiking in remote locations may be necessary to perform these functions.
