Job Title: Program Manager
Location: Borno/Yobe
Duration: 3 months (with possibility of extension)
1. Background:
Care Aid Support Initiative is seeking a highly qualified and experienced individual to fill the position of Program Manager. Care Aid Support Initiative operates in the Borno, Adamawa, and Yobe (BAY) axis, providing humanitarian aid and development programs in response to the ongoing crisis in the region.
2. Objective:
The objective of the Program Manager is to provide strategic leadership and oversight for all program activities in the BAY axis. This role is crucial in ensuring the effective development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of programs, while promoting collaboration and achieving project goals and objectives.
3. Scope of Work:
The selected candidate will be responsible for the following:
a. Program Development and Implementation:
- Lead the design, development, and implementation of high-quality programs in line with the organization’s strategic objectives and donor requirements.
- Coordinate with relevant stakeholders to identify programmatic needs, priorities, and opportunities, ensuring alignment with local contexts and beneficiary needs.
- Oversee program implementation, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgetary constraints, and quality standards.
- Provide guidance and support to program staff in the planning, execution, and monitoring of program activities.
- Foster partnerships and collaborations with local communities, government entities, and other NGOs to enhance program effectiveness and sustainability.
b. Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning:
- Establish an effective monitoring and evaluation system, ensuring the regular collection and analysis of program data and indicators.
- Coordinate evaluations, assessments, and surveys to measure program impact and identify lessons learned.
- Use monitoring and evaluation findings to inform program adjustments, improve program quality, and promote evidence-based decision-making.
c. Reporting and Documentation:
- Oversee the development of timely and comprehensive program reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensure accurate and timely data collection, analysis, and documentation of program activities and results.
- Collaborate with the Communications team to highlight program successes and share lessons learned with relevant audiences.
d. Team Management and Capacity Building:
- Provide leadership, guidance, and support to the program team, promoting a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and identify capacity-building needs for program staff.
- Facilitate training sessions, workshops, and mentoring opportunities to enhance staff skills and knowledge.
e. Partnership and Resource Mobilization:
- Identify and develop strategic partnerships with local and international organizations, fostering collaboration and resource-sharing.
- Contribute to fundraising efforts by participating in proposal development, donor engagement, and resource mobilization activities.
4. Required Qualifications and Skills:
- Minimum of three years of relevant experience in program management roles, preferably in the humanitarian or development sectors.
- Strong understanding of program management cycles, including planning, development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation.
- Excellent project management skills, with experience in managing complex and multi-sectoral programs.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively lead and manage teams, promoting teamwork and collaboration.
- Sound understanding of monitoring and evaluation methodologies, data collection techniques, and data analysis.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think creatively and strategically.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and report-writing skills.
- Familiarity with the context and dynamics of the Borno, Adamawa, and Yobe axis will be an advantage.
- Fluency in English is required, and knowledge of local languages is desirable.
5. Terms and Conditions:
- This is a full-time position based in BAY axis.
- The initial contract will be for 3 months, with the possibility of extension based on performance and funding availability.
- Remuneration will be commensurate with experience and in line with the organization’s salary scale.
- The successful candidate will be required to adhere to the organization’s code of conduct and maintain utmost confidentiality.
