Who Can Apply?
Applications are open only to organizations working in Malawi. Funding for Tanzania and Uganda will be available in 2026 and 2027, respectively.
To be eligible, organizations must:
✔ Be registered in Malawi as an NGO, CBO, or Youth Organization with valid certification from the appropriate regulatory body.
✔ Have an annual income of no more than £250,000 (approximately $300,000).
✔ Have been in operation for at least one year, with financial accounts available.
✔ Have at least four trustees or board members, ensuring no family relationships between directors and employees.
✔ Provide contact details of a past or current funder for reference.
✔ Have a bank account in the organization’s name that can accept payments in US dollars.
UK-registered organizations must meet additional criteria, ensuring that their work in Malawi is governed and delivered by local people.
Funding Priorities
Projects must align with at least one of the following priorities, with preference given to rural communities:
✔ Access to Education for Women and Girls (Note: Individual bursaries and scholarships are not eligible).
✔ Self-Sufficiency for Rural and Displaced Communities, supporting initiatives that promote economic independence and resilience.
Organizations can apply for up to £5,000 per year, with a maximum total of £10,000 for two years.

Grant Payment Information
✔ Successful applicants must formally accept the grant and provide bank details, along with a supporting document from the bank.
✔ All grant payments will be made in US dollars. The recipient organization’s bank account must be able to accept USD transactions.
✔ For two-year funding, the second-year grant will only be released upon submission of a satisfactory monitoring report for the first year.
