CARE BEST INITIATIVE (CBI) is a growing woman-led National Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) founded in 2019 and presently operational in the BAY states within the North-East. Our actions are to save lives, alleviate the suffering of children, women and other vulnerable people; and to maintain human dignity during and in the after math of man–made crises and natural disasters; as well as to prevent and strengthen preparedness for the occurrence of such situation; and to promote the right of children, women and vulnerable people in the society. CBI is partnering with Nigeria Humanitarian Fund (NHF) to improve access to the prevention and treatment services of acute malnutrition among children, pregnant and breastfeeding women; and reduce morbidity and mortality among these vulnerable groups. Job Title: Nutrition Officer

ROLE
Reporting to FSL- Technical Advisor, the nutrition officer is responsible for identifying nutritional needs in the various segments of the project, particularly with the below five years children, pregnant and lactating mothers, design and implements the nutritional strategy within the project. The position shall also coordinate with other activities within the project and develop appropriate communication material.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Leads in regular and monitoring visits Nutrition program sites in the community.
- Promote development of local policies that support improved food and nutrition habits for infants, young children, youth and women.
- Gathers relevant information on the project to enhance informed accurate decision making.
- Contribute to the development of training curricula, tools and related resources for workshops and seminars
- Support in sharing and gathering information with / from local communities in the project site in order to improve Nutrition standards in the community.
- Attend focused group discussions and other related Community level meeting to identify constraints to success of nutrition interventions.
- Contribute in data collection, nutrition surveys, campaigns, food distributions and monitoring of beneficiary trends.
- Support engagement of communities in improved nutrition practice including promotion of traditional food security structures.
- Participates in the monitoring and evaluation of project impact /interventions
- Provide general administration of the office and care of equipment.
- Line managing responsibility for Assistant Project Officers.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelors’ Degree Clinical Nutrition, Public Health and related courses
- Three years experience in a similar role
- Good oral and written communication skills ( English, and Local Hausa and Kanuri)
- Proficiency in the use of computers (Microsoft word, excel, and power point presentation.)
- Ability to speak Hausa, Kanuri and English
