Title: Consultancy Service for CIPP Parenting for Peace: Preventing Violent Extremism Training of Trainers’ Guide Consultant

Background

  • CIPP is a five-year USAID-funded program being implemented by Mercy Corps in partnership with Pastoral Resolve (PARE), Interfaith Mediation Centre (IMC), Savannah Centre for Diplomacy Democracy and Development (SCDDD) and African Radio Drama Association (ARDA).
  • The program is mitigating violent conflict in at-risk communities in six states of Nigeria’s Northwest (Kaduna, Kano, and Katsina States) and North Central (Kogi, Benue and Plateau States).
  • Through its’ ‘Parenting for Peace: Preventing Violent Extremism’ initiative, it seeks to facilitate a whole-of-Government and Whole-of-Society approaches to addressing the menace of violent extremism through parenting and peacebuilding approaches.
  • Recently, a Parenting for Peace: Preventing Violent Extremism’ training of trainers’ guide was developed, and plan is underway to launch the Guide in collaboration with the Ministry of Women Affairs.
  • The Guide will serve as a tool for reinforcing positive parenting techniques in entrenching culture of peace and building resilience of young people and the society at large to violent extremism.

Consultancy Summary

  • The primary objective of this consultancy is to present the methodologies adopted in developing the ‘Parenting for Peace: Preventing Violent Extremism’ Training of Trainers’ Guide, key objectives of the Guide and role of relevant Ministries, Department and Agencies (MDAs), private sector and community actors, including parents and youth influencers in rolling out the Guide.

Consultancy Activities

  • Audience-friendly presentation on a comprehensive overview of the work process and methodologies adopted in drafting the P4P Training of Trainers’ Guide
  • Audience-friendly presentation on the Aim and objectives of the P4P Training of Trainers’ Guide
  • Develop 1-pager Guideline that contains recommendations for the Government (Executive, Legislative and Judiciary), Educational Institutions, the Private sector, CSOs and community actors for rolling out the P4P Training of Trainers’ Guide

Expected Deliverables

  • Actively participate in coordination meetings and launch of the P4P Training of Trainers’ Guide
  • Share audience-friendly slides on the overview of the P4P Training of Trainers’ Guide development process, key objectives and expected outcomes of the initiative
  • Share 1-pager Guidelines and recommendations for implementing P4P Training of Trainers’ Guide by State and non-state actors

Timeframe / Schedule:
The total estimated days for the consultancy assignment is 10 days from 22 September to 5 October.

  • The consultant should be engaged by 21st September 2023
  • Planning meeting with the consultant on 25 September 2023 to discuss expectations on the day of the event (which is September 28, 2023).
  • All the above-stated deliverables should be finalized and shared with Mercy Corps and CIPP team for review on 25 September 2023. Final documents shall be distributed by 5 October.

Payment Terms

  • Payment will be made after satisfactory completion of the work
  • Mercy Corps will make payment within 10 days upon receipt of the invoice through bank transfer. Mercy Corps will deduct 5% WHT in line with government regulations.
  • The consultancy cost will be all-inclusive covering travels and feeding.
