Role Overview
- We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Mental Health Officer to lead the design, implementation, and management of WIMROF’s mental health programs.
- The successful candidate will work closely with the programs and health teams to provide mental health support, raise awareness, and promote emotional well-being within the communities we serve.
- This role requires a strong understanding of mental health issues, community-based interventions, and the ability to provide culturally sensitive support.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement mental health programs tailored to the needs of underserved communities.
- Conduct mental health assessments and provide individual and group counseling sessions.
- Train staff and community volunteers on mental health awareness and first aid.
- Create and distribute educational materials to promote mental health awareness.
- Collaborate with health and programs teams to integrate mental health into broader health initiatives.
- Provide crisis intervention and support to individuals experiencing psychological distress.
- Monitor and evaluate program impact through data collection, analysis, and reporting.
- Liaise with community leaders to ensure culturally appropriate delivery of mental health services.
- Refer individuals to specialized mental health services when needed
- Advocate for mental health policies and increased access to mental health services.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, Mental Health, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in mental health program delivery or counseling.
- Strong knowledge of mental health issues and evidence-based intervention strategies.
- Experience providing culturally sensitive mental health support.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience working with underserved communities is an advantage.
