Under the supervision of the Mechanic, the Mechanic Helper helps to maintain and repair ICRC vehicles and other logistics equipment under close supervision and according to ICRC standards. S/he contributes to keeping all equipment and vehicles well maintained and ready for use at all times.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Performs maintenance and repairs that require no specific technical skills on equipment and structures according to oral or written instructions.
- Ensures that all service and repair forms are correctly filled out and forwarded for all jobs carried out and reported to the mechanic on responsibility of the work.
- Helps the Mechanic carry out their work.
- Retrieves vehicles in the field
- Can perform support mission in the field
- Assists the mechanic when needed.
- Assist the mechanic for the yearly inventory
- Follows the procedure set by the Mechanic for the waste management
- Refuel the ICRC generators in designated residences
Education and Experience Required
- Technical School degree or equivalent
- Minimum 2 years’ work experience in a similar function
- Light vehicle driving license
Desired profile and Skills
- Good command of written and spoken English. Basic mechanical skills for vehicle and generators Basic knowledge of welding and electricity.
- Knowledge of basic mechanical safety procedures.
- Good knowledge of the local area and integration into a professional network
