ABOUT THE JOB (1/2)

The MEAL Manager is part of the regional team (Maiduguri and Monguno) based in Maiduguri. Under the supervision of the technical supervision of MEAL Coordinator, the MEAL Manager will be in-charge of implementing MEAL activities in Monguno and Maiduguri bases as defined in the proposals. He/she is responsible for providing technical guidance and support to MEAL staff to both bases and responsible for developing and disseminating tools for ongoing MEAL activates.   • Strategic orientation
    • Participate in developing a sector-based strategy (M&E, accountability, gender, do no harm) in accordance with SI’s policies and priorities for the intervention country
    • Participate in programming work.
  • Training and technical support on:
    • data collection and analysis (method, format, software etc.), measure of indicators, complaint response mechanism, do no harm analysis etc. Develop training modules along with MEAL Coordinator.
    • technical and methodological support for M&E activities, data management (questionnaire design, sampling, data entry, extraction of useful data and interpretation) and integration of cross-cutting issues.
    • creating or adapting tools for: indicators monitoring, impact monitoring (M&E plan and survey tools) or risk analysis.

YOUR PROFILE

Education:

  • Master’s degree or equivalent in statistic, quality control or humanitarian project management

Experience:

  • Experience in MEAL management and/or Project coordination (minimum 3 years);
  • Knowledge of data collection, sampling, mobile data collection (Kobo, Power-BI) and data analysis
  • Technical experience in mapping (QGIS) is an asset
  • Experience in communication with communities and accountability mechanisms
  • Previous experience with SI is a plus

Technical skills:

  • Strong writing skills
  • Data analysis (quantitative and qualitative)
  • Database management
  • Data collection/research methods
  • Mobile data collection tool development
  • Software -> Excel mandatory; Kobo/ODK/XLSForm

Soft skills:

  • Quick decision-maker and work in autonomy;

SI WILL OFFER YOU

Salaried position
Salary: According to experience, starting from EUR 1980 gross per month (EUR 1800 base salary + 10% annual leave allowance paid monthly)

Monthly Per Diem: USD 600

SI covers accommodation costs and travel expenses between the expatriate’s country of residence and the mission.

Break policy

  • 1 break of 7 working days every 3 months
  • 1 day off per worked month.

These days off, as well as the breaks, are not deducted from the paid leaves that are paid every months with your salary: they are offered by SI.

Social and medical cover:
Expatriates benefit from an insurance package which reimburses all healthcare expenses (including medical and surgical expenses, dental care and ophthalmological expenses, repatriation) and a welfare system including war risks. Essential vaccination and antimalarial treatment costs are refunded.

Please note that this is an expatriate position.

SPECIFIC CONSTRAINTS RELATED TO SECURITY

The security context is challenging in North East (Borno), Nigeria, justifying specific arrangements in terms of movements to the field.

LIVING CONDITIONS

The living conditions in the Maiduguri guesthouse are comfortable (AC rooms, comfortable beds, TV, tennis table, good cooking etc.) with the possibility of finding a wide range of goods for cooking.

There is a functional market in Maiduguri where staff can buy supplies, including meat and vegetable. Social life is somehow limited due to COVID-19 context. Visits to other NGOs are possible but within the confines of curfew and COVID-19 guidelines.
