About Radio Ndarason International in Nigeria
The studio in Maiduguri, which operates under the name Okapi Net Foundation, produces Kanuri language programmes for Radio Ndarason International (RNI) which broadcasts to the entire Lake Chad basin region in Kanuri, Kanembu, Buduma and French on shortwave and FM, as well as via live-streaming. RNI, which is managed by Okapi Consulting (South Africa based). The station provides a platform that allows for the free-flow of information throughout the Lake Chad basin, regardless of borders or physical barriers.
Position: M&E Assistant & Listener Group Coordinator
Reports to: Regional M & E Coordinator

The regional radio network interacts with the estimated 10 million Kanuri/Kanembu speakers as well as those who speak Buduma and French in order to encourage a constructive dialogue for peace and progress in a region decimated by conflict – other languages may follow. With progress comes stability and with stability the possibility of sustainability. In this part of the world, radio is the overwhelmingly dominant means of communication.
Six hours of original content, produced in N’Djamena and Maiduguri, is broadcast daily to the entire region via shortwave, using a transmitter located on Ascension Island in the South Atlantic Ocean. This content is also rebroadcast along with additional original material from regional studios on the Chad-based FM network (Liwa, Bol and N’Djamena).

We are looking for a talented, motivated and experienced M&E person to join our M&E team.
General Position Summary
The M&E Assistant supports core M & E activities, ensures timely and quality data collection using designed questionnaires for survey participants, focus groups, listener groups etc., and supports in producing regular reports and analysis with charts based on data collected internally and externally through various means. S/he reports to and liaises on a regular basis with the Regional M & E Coordinator, and news and programme staff for quality data influenced feedback on quality and impact of programming, provide updates with the results of surveys, questionnaires and / or listener group both generally and specific to the programmes which they produce individually.
S/he will play the key role in the establishment and management of pilot listener groups with regular monitoring visits and documentation of program specific feedback from the listener groups.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Plan and collect quality data (routine, monthly, quarterly and/or annually) which will be analyzed, presented or produced by the M&E team
- Attending regular meetings with the programme team for planning and provision of feedback on programme
- Supervise a small group of enumerators as necessary and maintain clear records of work undertaken, or planned.
- Weekly monitoring of the online Programme Tracking Data Forms completed by each producer and completing a written analysis of the data they contain, according to established principles.
- Ensure regular call log update of all callers to RNI in Nigeria, with numbers, names and place of residence where possible.
- Establish listener groups as directed, liaising with and visiting them regularly, and designing and collecting regular reports from them.
- Report monthly, quarterly and half-yearly on all M & E activities to the Regional M & E Coordinator
Requirements
- Fluency in written and spoken Kanuri ● Fluency in written and spoken English
- A degree (or equivalent) from a reputable institution, and minimum of 2 years M & E experience in NGO
- Proven organizational and analytical skills
Required Skills Abilities and Experience
- Knowledge and understanding of Radio in Nigeria
- Experience of stakeholder management and working collaboratively
- Fluent Kanuri and English is essential
- Thorough knowledge of history and current affairs in North East Nigeria and the Lake Chad Basin
- Strong technical skills in, mobile data collection methodologies, data analysis using one or more statistical software packages and presentation

Supervisory Responsibility: Enumerators
Works Directly with: All staff, and undertakes any other task as necessary and or directed by the Country Director or Regional M & E Coordinator.
