The Opportunity

  • As the Larviciding Coordinator, you will provide organizational and logistical management for the project’s integrated vector control operations in country.
  • You will focus on programmatic and management oversight for all aspects of the PMI Evolve project’s larval source management (LSM) operations in Argungu, Kebbi State, including spray planning, technical assistance and training, logistical and operational support and supervision, and activity tracking and reporting.
  • You will coordinate closely with government counterparts and oversee the activities of project’s field and seasonal  staff.
  • This position reports to the Technical Manager and works closely with the Entomology Coordinator and MEL Specialist.
  • This employment is for a fixed term of 12 months. This position is in Argungu, Kebbi State.

Key Roles and Responsibilities
Specific duties and responsibilities include the following:

  • Coordinates all activities of larvicide evaluation and larval source management in target sites.
  • Determining larviciding operations labor requirements, and overseeing the recruitment of seasonal personnel
  • Quantifying insecticides/larvicides, sprayers, PPE, and all other equipment and supplies
  • Developing operations activity schedules and organizing micro-planning meetings
  • Ensuring adherence to USAID/PMI BMP for IRS/Larviciding
  • Coordinates training-of-trainer courses, and the training of the different categories of larviciding personnel.
  • Determines larviciding personnel performance targets, and tracks progress against larviciding campaign targets and timelines.
  • Ensuring that there are adequate stock levels of commodities, equipment and supplies, at all larviciding operation sites.
  • Ensuring that correct techniques are applied and ensuring that supervision and monitoring tools are used as required
  • Ensuring quality and accuracy of primary data and safely delivered to data centers
  • Oversees the management of warehouses and stores and ensures that appropriate equipment, larvicides and PPE are provided to seasonal personnel
  • Ensuring that all store records are up to date throughout the larviciding operations
  • Identifying, and overseeing the preparation and renovation of larviciding operation sites/bases
  • Achieves operations-related Monitoring & Evaluation and Quality Control indicators of the project.
  • Develops all reporting-related deliverables for larviciding activities
  • Promotes targeting, integration and equity (gender equity, hard-to-reach populations, etc.) of project’s vector control strategies and activities.
  • Oversees social behavior communication and community mobilization and directly supervises other larviciding personnel
  • Supports the MEL team in data management, analysis, and preparation of report
  • Contributes, in close coordination with the Technical Manager, to the development and delivery of the country capacity-building plan to transfer integrated vector control skills to stakeholders including local institutions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What We Value
Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree + four years of relevant experience, or Master’s Degree + two years of relevant experience 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health, Environmental Health, or other relevant field.
  • At least four (4) years of relevant professional work experience, with significant amounts of experience directly in Integrated Vector Control.
  • Experience in regulatory and operational aspects of insecticide use and management is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a minimum of direction and supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both as a member of a team and as a team leader, with the ability to accept the inputs of other team members.
  • Strong management and planning skills of project tasks and budgets.
  • Demonstrates leadership and teamwork and produces high quality work in a timely, cost-effective manner and has excellent writing skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal communications, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent computer skills, computer software programs, including MSWord, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with USAID funded programs and/or other international development experience.
  • English language fluency.
