Job Title: Logistic/Procurement Manager – Maiduguri (Internal)
Location: Maiduguri, Nigeria
General Context of the Job/Project:
The Logistic/Procurement Manager responsible in the procurement and logistics operations for SHO projects in Maiduguri. This position is responsible for overseeing all procurement services, including purchasing materials for construction works, adherence to procurement policies, and ensuring efficient supply chain management.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement procurement plans and strategies in line with project objectives and organizational procurement policies and procedures.
- Coordinate the procurement process from requisition to delivery, ensuring timely and costeffective acquisition of goods and services.
- Conduct market assessments and vendor evaluations to identify potential suppliers, negotiate contracts, and establish supplier relationships.
- Ensure compliance with donor requirements, local regulations, and ethical standards in all procurement activities.
- Oversee the preparation of bidding documents, evaluation of bids, and selection of suppliers, ensuring transparency and fairness in the procurement process.
- Manage procurement contracts and agreements, including monitoring vendor performance, resolving contract disputes, and ensuring contract compliance.
- Provide technical guidance and support to project staff on procurement procedures, documentation requirements, and best practices.
- Monitor inventory levels, track asset utilization, and maintain accurate records of procurement transactions.
- Coordinate logistics and transportation activities, including customs clearance, warehousing, and distribution of goods to project sites.
- Prepare regular procurement and logistics reports for internal and external stakeholders, highlighting key performance indicators, challenges, and recommendations for improvement.
Essential Knowledge and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field. Professional certification in procurement or logistics is preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in procurement and logistics management, preferably in the humanitarian or development sector.
- Strong understanding of procurement principles, practices, and regulations, with knowledge of donor procurement requirements.
- Excellent negotiation, contract management, and vendor management skills.
- Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural environment.
- Proven ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced work environment.
